That's an opinion based statement, not a fact based statement. But we could debate that for a llllooonnnggg time, and have before.

Side: Yes

If you say so.

Side: Yes

Yes spreading any false information is ultimately harmfull for any person or society in general. However this brand of delusion in particular carries especially harmfull characteristics such as general hatred of human nature, and disreguard for the value of human opinion, creation, thought, and even life by extension. Yes. teaching it as true is harmfull

However this brand of delusion in particular carries especially harmfull characteristics such as general hatred of human nature, and disreguard for the value of human opinion, creation, thought, and even life by extension.

1) General Hatred of Human Nature:

In what sense do Christians "hate" human nature? Christians are obviously aware of predispositions or extrinsic influences upon a person. Also, Christians are told not to judge others for what they do. They are not allowed to judge others because they believe God will do so in the end times. Some Christians do so anyways, but the doctrine doesn't support it.

1 Peter 4:8 " Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins."

Matthew 7:1-29 " Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye."

Colossians 3:12-15 " Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful."

2) Disregard for the value of human opinion

Again, this is something some Christians do that their doctrine tells them not to do. Don't act like you don't disregard or hold judgments towards other's opinions. Everybody does it.

Romans 14:1 " As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions."

3) Creation

What "value of..creation"? You have one who says God brought about man through unique evolutionary processes. You have one that says that humans were derived from evolutionary processes. They both value the occurence of evolution. To a strong Christian the things we discover through observation and experiments help us make sense of God's doing since they typically see everything as divine.

4) Thought

This makes no sense to me. Christians disregaurd the value of thought? I don't think so. This ties into the same category as "opinions" so that verse is applicable here.

5) Life by extension

You will need to elaborate on this. I have no idea what you are attemting to discuss.

Yes. teaching it as true is harmfull[.]

Why? How do we know for sure that it's false?

Absolutely, just listen to the crappy music they are subjected to, very painful.

Side: Yes

Hatred is harmful to the mind of any one who harbors it and hatred is something Christianity encourages. It also keeps them from knowing the truth of things and thinking for themselves.

It's like teaching your ugly kid that they are pretty. :)

No it doesn't hurt kids. It hasn't hurt me at all but helped me and the same to other kids who continue on the path of righteousness with Christ.

Side: No

I think its less what you teach them than how. If you teach them to never examine their beliefs, to turn up their noses to logic or anything that challenges their beliefs and to ignore the world outside of their religious community, yes...that is harmful. But it that is how you raise them, you harm them no matter what you believe. An atheist would be harming their child if they did that.

If you teach them to appreciate knowledge, to legitimately listen to opposing beliefs, to constantly be growing and expanding, and especially if you give them freedom to explore on their own, then you will raise a person who can become productive, versatile and intellectually independent. If you are truly confident of your beliefs and your ability to parent, you should have no fear in encouraging their intellectual development. Indeed, since they are our futures, you should encourage it.
