Is a completely voluntary system of "universal care" possible?

Is a completely voluntary system of "universal medical care" possible, or does such a system require mandatory contributions from those who would choose other options for their own medical care?

No. Democrats will never volunteer their own monotary things or money, so it will have to be taken unvoluntarily.

Hello c:

Universal care is about payment, not about medical services.. Those payments are collected as taxes, and like all taxes, they're mandatory. But, if you wish to pursue paid for medical services, you certainly can.. Of course, you'll have to pay for them..

It's possible in all other industrialized countries, as is, in most of THEM, free college ed. , gov't "paid vacation time" and child birth time off. OF COURSE, the taxes are higher, but, If you compare the higher taxes to what WE pay for taxes, education, health care, health insurance and interest on college loans THEY get a FAR better deal! FAR better!

I worked for a huge German company for almost 20 years, the Germans got a MANDATORY 6 weeks vacation every year. WE, on the American side, got 1 to 5 weeks, depending on years worked, and it was ONE reason … along with health insurance, that WE were paid on a "lower scale" than our German counterparts! (i.e., WE paid for much of our own "benefits", we just couldn't call it "taxes"!). THEY got MORE MONEY to PAY those higher taxes! Let's see, just WHO are the winners here? Hmmmmm….. How come "tax" is a four letter word in America, and only 3 in most countries ?

>"It's possible in all other industrialized countries,...OF COURSE, the taxes are higher."

Then it isn't voluntary, is it?

Voluntary would (at least) be the ability to opt out of both the service and paying for it through taxes.

Do you believe that there are enough people who want to be in the system to sustain it, if you were allowed to opt out?

>"How come "tax" is a four letter word in America, and only 3 in most countries ?"

It isn't. It is a five letter word..."theft". ;)

Government of, by and for the people does NOT mean of by and for each individual. It means of by and for the MAJORITY and any individual, or group of them, has the right to voice their opinion to convince others to see it their way and make a change. If they cannot, they are obliged to follow the majority's rules until they CAN. If the majority wants health care for everyone, it's everyone's civic duty to follow the rules (law).health care is CHEAPER and better in the those other countries! I haven't checked this year but, last time I checked The U.S. was only 37th in the world (behind those "socialist medicine" countries), in health care quality, and 55th least expensive … ALSO behind those countries. (Not to mention 174th out of 193 countries in "infant death after live birth"!) Why ANYONE would rather see fellow Americans go without health care, or go bankrupt because of an expensive illness is beyond me! We should be AMERICA, not individual Americans! A TEAM, which is what DEMOCRATIC socialism requires, and the Constitution expects.

We, technologically, may have one of the better medical systems in the world, which is why some from other countries come here for treatment, but it should be accessible to ALL AMERICANS, rich OR poor! Conservatives like to say "ALL lives matter!". It seems that is only "racially" true. If you can't afford your health care premiums, well, to bad! U.S. (or us) capitalists don't give a rats ass, we don't want to pay into the "kitty" and go along with the majority (which would bring costs WAY down), 'cause WE are the only Americans who count , WE have MONEY! WE want to keep it for ourselves … screw the "team"! Teams that play AS a team, WIN! Taxes are only "theft" if they are used for the personal gain of individuals or individual GROUPS! When used correctly they are PAYED BACK to those who "invest" in them! Our job as WE the people is to see that that happens! The next time you drive down a nice road, remember, it was TAXES that made that possible! (Yep, a five letter word that IS NOT … THEFT.)
