A currency monopoly basically exists now. If nations need to buy oil, they need to do it in US Dollars.

But that dosn't really profit the us by it. Its just a conversion of the currencys. A monopolly would imply that they have controll and make a profit off of the currency. Transactions are just numbers that are being transfered nowadays. Its all just coversion

No? i'm not sure what your asking. The government makes a currency, thats backed up with the value of gold that they have. So no, you can't monopolize money.

what government do you have?

I hear a lot of support for private currencies, the thing is other than needing to pay taxes there really isn't anything stopping people from using them. Bit coin and Lindens are examples, but depending on how technical you want to get with the reuse factor of currency, even gift cards can be seen as a private currency.
