From my own experience, I think a strict teacher is a better teacher. The reason is that they can keep control of the class more easily than the teachers who are not so strict. Although, my reason does not mean teachers that are not so strict cannot keep control of the class. It just depends on the teacher and the students in the class. Side: Yes
On the basis of providing constructive criticism then yes I would say a strict teacher is better.A lot of teachers nowadays seem to adopt what I call a 'handle with care' approach when it comes to teaching students about academic standards. The world of work is tough and often unforgiving and if students want to progress in life then they need to be faced with the harsh truth of their assignment quality and academic ability rather than showered with flowery critique, otherwise it's going to be a horrible crash and burn when they enter the higher education/job world. I think it also demonstrates the depth of interest and passion a teacher can have in their pupils in pushing them hard to do well rather than being ultra relaxed; I had one or two teachers like the latter at at school and it always came across to me as though they were just aiming to do the bare minimum. So they may seem harsh, but a stricter approach would probably get you further in your achievements. That said, there's being a strict teacher and then there's being something of an autocrat - easy to work out which is less likely to be appreciated and respected by young people! Side: Yes

It kind of depends in this case. I have a relaxed, fun teacher. I know who the strict ones are at are school and I would have NO problem having them as a teacher but when the teacher is so strict it seems like school is a punishment, they definitely need to be more relaxed. All in all, I prefer a relaxed teacher because it makes school more fun and happy. But if a kid is so misbehaved no one can deal with them, they need a strict teacher. It really depends on the student. Side: No

It does depend on the student. However, I've learnt from experience at school. I have a particular class which is extremely rude and uncooperative- at the hands of a strict teacher. I've found that fun teachers enforce a quieter, more informative learning environment; in fact, fun teachers are more respected by students than strict ones. Although this is the case, I prefer them to have a balance of both. I need my authority to be able to have fun and take a joke, but at the same time teach what my class is required to learn. If there is not a balance the teacher will be ridiculed, or the class won't learn anything from lack of dedication by that teacher. Side: No
