Is death metal and rock (i.e. greenday and metallica) bad for you?
This debate has gone on between me and my friends for a long time now, so I want to finally know the answer! Should we ban it???

yeah one of my friends is seroiusly into death metal she sings it all the time it's crazy. Music can change the way you look at life so sometimes it does give kids behavior problems as on stage people like metallica throw things around and if metallica are that kid's role models then he/she is going to copy them especially if they are young and they haven't got as much controll of themselves. Firstly, it is almost impossible to sing death metal, (your vocal chords have to be trained so you don't rip them) and, the people who listen to death metal/thrash/punk etc. etc. normally understand what the music is saying, and I find if I listen to some moderately heavy music (e.g Bullet For My Valentine) then I calm down if I'm angry. Plus, Metallica (mainly because you mentioned them specifically) do not throw things on stage. Sure, they use pyrotechnics and lights, but what major band that isn't wussy kiddy pop doesn't? In fact, when a Metallica fan went missing, THEY organized the search party, AND a reward if she was found. Finally, all the members of Metallica have children, so they have learnt how to be good role models etc. etc. Peace out, Scene Kid Side: No way! it rocks

Well Greenday and Metallica are shit. I would recommend Slayer a REAL metal/thrash band. Instead of Shitallica. Other than that Meshuggah is good if you look at the technicality of how they play instead of just listening to their music mindlessly. Same with Slayer, their drummer Dave Lombardo is probably one of the best drummers that has ever lived and he doesn't just do metal he does Jazz which allows thousands of different drumming styles to exist. Watch his Solos. I listen to Jazz, classic, and metal. All in moderation though. Side: Yes! ban it now

Those who think music has no effect on people amaze me. You can often look at someone and tell what kind of music they listen to by their mannerisms and sense of fashion. Rap music seems to even influence the way people talk and think. The notion that music has no influence on people is silly. Side: Yes! ban it now

Yes, it is destroying the youth. It turns your brain to mush. Artists from these genres attend seminars every year on how to destroy the youth of today. Bloody Hippies. They should be castrated and hung, oh and have their balls removed, wait I said that already. Damn Death Metal, Why?????? Side: Yes! ban it now

Sure Metal changes the way you look and act, but I dont see a negative problem with it, most Metal heads with behavioral issues usualy act that whay because of problems started at home, other than that, Kids who listen to metal are usualy much more respectful to higher authority figures than say most of the kids who listen to rap. Someone will say it is a coincidence, but studies show that the same group that listens to lots of heavy metal is the same group noted to be the most depressed. I can't prove music can cause depression but I am going to go ahead and assume that there is some link between listening to hard rock/heavy metal type music and depression. I know this is subjective, but music has a profound effect upon me. Heavy metal makes me feel angry, violent, sick or depressed. It is negative and discordant music, in my opinion. Google the Mozart Effect to learn how music can affect one positively. Side: Yes! ban it now

Shouldn't your post be a dispute of his with the opposite view supported? You seem to understand the correlation does not equal causation, which would be one of the arguments I would use against him. You also recognize the subjectivity of musical taste. You also supported yourself saying you don't think it should be banned, yet your position says otherwise. Side: No way! it rocks

Despite your misclassification, and apparent lack of musical knowledge thereof, I'm going with no. Music that engages the mind is good for you. Factoring in taste, the more intricate the music you listen to, the more stimulating it becomes (note that simplicity is in itself an intricate musical component). Metal music is renown for having genres of specific complexity. Side: No way! it rocks
Death Metal and rock, though occasionally in bad taste, are not necessarily bad for you. There are studies that lean toward those who listen to this music are the most depressed or the most destructive, but I believe that the music itself is not the cause. These people merely want to listen to it because it supports or somehow aids or agrees with how the feel or their general dispostion. I, personally, feel energized by metal music, which may be why those who are considered destructive lean toward it; it empowers them. The music more or less gives them what they want. But the music itself is not designed to harm people. Its more so a matter of subjectivity, no? Side: No way! it rocks

First, you have Matallica and Green Day in the wrong genres (Metallica is metal and Green Day is punk pop) and just because you happen to not like these genres doesn't mean you should try and ruin it for the rest of us. Anyway, you can't ban a genre of music, there will always be underground gigs if you know where to look Side: No way! it rocks

The GTA Games are way too violent than Death Metal Songs. Ban that first. Ban Pot, People get high and murder. Ban Alchohol. People get drunk and rape. Ban Cars, People run over others. Death metal is very safe if you don't take the lyrics seriously. If you're afraid, Don't look at the lyrics on the web. You wouldn't decode them anyways by just listening Side: No way! it rocks
I'm the girliest girl you will ever meet. I have good grades, I'm very artistic and I'm friendly. I love Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran. But guess what? Fall Out Boy is my favorite band. I love Green Day, AC/DC, a couple MCR songs, AAR, and Marianas Trench. Side: No way! it rocks
