Is everything we do meaningless?
Everything that happens on this earth only affects other things on this earth. In a few billion years, the sun will blow up and destroy earth. Unless, of course, you believe in a higher power/afterlife, doesn't that seem kind of pointless? If so, does it even matter anyways? We'll be dead by then. But then how much do our lives matter if everything we do ends up destroyed in the end anyway?

"If nothing had any meaning, you would be right. But there is something that still has a meaning." Second Letter to a German Friend absurdism Many people attempt to find meaning in their lives. They end up with two paths: -believing that life is in fact meaningless, and that what we have is the "here-and-now" --> what i believe -or answer with a belief in God But then, we ask what is the purpose of God? CAMUS philosophy. i love it. Everything that happens on this earth only affects other things on this earth. In a few billion years, the sun will blow up and destroy earth. Mmmk....? Unless, of course, you believe in a higher power/afterlife, doesn't that seem kind of pointless? If so, does it even matter anyways? You're reminding me of Eeyore. We'll be dead by then. But then how much do our lives matter if everything we do ends up destroyed in the end anyway? This assumes we need to have something that lives on for eternity for what we do to be of any worth. I do not believe in that assumption. If that is true then artists shouldn't paint because their canvas will some day degrade and wither away. Dancers shouldn't dance because as soon as their dance ends the moment cannot be brought back. Need I go on? We do because we feel. We do because we want to. We do because it's part of who we are. We give it meaning. |
