Is gay marriage a significant issue? Why so, or why not?

Significant

Side Score: 22
VS.

Insignificant

Side Score: 20

It is a significant issue to the first world - to the rest of the world it is not.

It has become far less significant after the supreme court repealed DOMA but the fight still goes on.

Statistics shows that a very small percent of gays have goten married where it had been allowed.

This whole thing was counjured up by the LGBT nutters, for purpose of creating legal precedent.

From that precedent, they push for more insane legislations.

An example of that is the notorious Toilet Bill, which was recently signed in California.

So yes, it is significantly debasing the legal systems in coutries which uptake this agenda.

No matter what side of the fence you're on, the issue is pretty significant. Not just in what it means, but what it could produce as a result.

...Though I for one would like the choice of marriage, if nothing else. As for a small percentage marrying... well, perhaps those other people aren't ready to settle down yet. Perhaps they're single. Perhaps they want to wait. We don't know, do we?

No matter how much people are educated and are taught not to discriminate sexual minorities, it is still not uncommon for us to judge them on the basis of prejudice. It should not even be called an 'issue' but at the moment we need to admit our inability to fully embrace them.

off course gay marriage is a significant issue. The very nature of politics is wrapped up in religion, and gay marriage is something that goes against the beliefs of some religions.

Side: Significant

It is most definitely a significant issue for lots of people on both sides of the debate. But it doesn't affect me, so its not significant in my world. If two people want to marry, go ahead.

Side: Significant

Gay Marriage must be legalized because it is the right thing to do. There should be no bans toward Gay Marriage.

I think it's becoming a bigger issue than it should be. When it gets to the point where people are voting for candidates that are completely ignorant of foreign policy and economics, yet support gay marriage, there is a problem.

Side: Insignificant

Not to me it isn't.... I really don't care a whole lot about social issues.

Marriage is suppose to happen between a man and a woman.

If you wanna be gay that is your choice. And from that choice you are getting rid of the chance of being married.

Which is how it should be.

I wouldn't even consider it an issue let alone Insignificant...

I suppose you have evidence to back up your claims of 'it's supposed to happen between a man and a woman'? What is, exactly? Why is it restricted to just that? Why would it be insignificant if you feel so strongly against it?

Bonus points if you can provide actual evidence, and a whole letter grade if you do it without mentioning religion.

"Why is it restricted to just that?"

Not my idea so I am not going to try and change it.

I am not against it. It goes against the original idea of marriage which is why I can understand why gay marriage wouldn't be allowed.

It's contradicting.

So damned much. People. if two people want to get married you've got to be one major dick to barge on on two strangers wedding and tell them that you don't think they should be married. I mean come on, it's their life, let them do what they want with it. I am forced to say " they " in order to differentiate between homosexuals and heterosexuals ( and bisexuals) but I shouldn't. As far as I am concerned, there's only one type of folks. folks. ( Scout, To Kill a Mockingbird.)

Buy issue I meant is it something that is of importance.

I've never heard of anyone getting arrested for marrying someone of the same sex under our current laws. Gay couples already can get married. It's a matter of whether or not the state should provide them benefits.

I'll get this straight ( excuse the unintended pun), gay couples, or any other couples for that matter should have as many rights as the next.

Side: Significant

Insignificant.

1. The worst that happens is that they don't get some benefits.

2. You can't legislate acceptance.
