Um... Is that not the same as saying mechanical know how means you have to like all cars? Not even close actually. It just means you can be smart in one area and not in another area. Nothing to do with preference. I thought it was a very simple and obvious example >< I might be able to understand a culture and still not tolerate it. Why make the assumption that understanding will lead to tolerance? No, being intollerant of a people, culture, whatever as a whole is in itself proof of ignorance... which was the point. There is no situation in which intollerance of an entire people makes any logical sense unless one believes that a culture, race, religion, whatever completely represents each and every individual within any of these things. If one believes that this is the case than they are "unintelligent" and ingnorant of humaninty in general, since this is not how humans function at all. I'm guessing though if you did not understand my first reply this will be even more confusing. Side: yes

Reasonless intolerance, maybe. It's rather grey, though. You can't simply insist someone is an idiot because they're intolerant towards something. You can question their reasoning, though. To put it bluntly -- intolerance is simply another position or a stance against something. It's the reasoning behind it that determines if the intolerant individual in question is a nonce. Side: No
