In an ideal world there would not be any form of violence however it is written in the history of our species and that is where we are now continuing to exhibit violence that continues to arise out of many origins, real or imagined, out of conflict, misunderstanding, opposite points of view, etc etc and on and on. As long as we demonstrate violence physically or verbally we simply reinforce it through every generation and as a species we appear to be destined to be unable to sustain peaceful co-existence from more than a short period of time before we destroy it. It depends on intent. If he can't get away and she slaps the man then yes, slap her right back. But you have to be careful that you don't escalate the violence, like the term bringing a gun to a knife fight. If she slaps you and you punch her, you are escalating and the legal system will go after you (the original victim) instead of her (the original instigator) Side: No, it depends.
