Do any of you know what Sharia Law actually is? In some forms in moderate but in most it is strict. If you are a homosexual, you get executed...

No its common sense. Just because any idea is attached to a religion doesnt mean its bigoted to oppose it. Youre a biggot if you say things like "all muslims are dirty wife beaters" or "the jewish religion is for retards". That kind of baseless overgeneralization is biggoted. But actually picking out things and disagreeing with them by making a case for why you believe they are wrong or bad is perfectly fine.

She says that in one state they are proposing making it punishable by 15 years for adhering to sharia law. If this is true, then yes it is bigoted.

I would love to look into this, is there a transcript of the article available anywhere, do you know?

I don't believe any of the states are making adherence to sharia law in general illegal. However, some practices within sharia law are, in fact, illegal. Is she suggesting that muslims should be granted special leniency within our legal system for practices that are fine within sharia law but illegal under US law? Eg, is she suggesting that it should be legal for a muslim to cut the hand off of someone who steals from him? Is she suggesting that it should be legal for a muslim to give his daughter 100 lashes for having sex before she gets married?

It is not bigoted to oppose tyranny. Seperation of religion and state.

Side: No.

Not if you morally object to it for legitimate reasons and not simply out of hatred for the religion in question.

Side: No.

It's not bigoted to oppose the idea of law based on religion, regardless of the religion. It falls on the promoters of such laws to find non-religious validity for said laws if they expect them to be enforced.

Side: No.

I will opine that it is not bigoted to oppose Sharia Law since Sharia Law calls for the execution of homosexuals.

It depends on why you oppose it. If you oppose it strictly because it is religious it is bigoted. If you oppose it because you have looked into it and the law is bad, then no. If you oppose it because it goes against the constitution, then no.

The problem is, we don't need a law saying that the law shouldn't be based on Sharia law. That is already covered. What are conservatives trying to prevent with an anti Sharia law law?

Quick! Let's back that up with an anti sharia law law law; a law that requires the law to pass a law which banishes sharia law from the law.

This is getting out of hand. You are just being ridiculous. This ridiculousness will be a huge detriment to our way of life if it isn't stopped now. Therefore I propose an anti sharia law law law law. This will preemptively prevent people from trying to create a law that tries to stop the law that preemptively stops sharia law.

I oppose it because of its practices. I have no problem with peace loving Muslims.

Side: No.

Like Said above, it depends why it is being opposed, Islam has the right to have there own laws and beliefs. The same as we do. Do I think the US should take it and make it government laws in the US, no I don't. Because we are not in the Middle East and they come here to live a better life that for what ever reason they didn't like in there country. But to ban them from practicing there own religion is and will always be bigot related, we have to find a way to trust the Muslim community again. Because with all people there is evil and each group has there fair share. Look at so called Christians who form cults and do horrible things. No body who is Christian wants to be labeled this way. Just like most Muslims do not want to be labeled.
