Yes, it goes through periods where it's very quiet. I much prefer that though because despite how mad and stupid most of us are here there's more of a sense of community than the larger sites. I've come to despise places like Reddit and even Wikipedia which are so large they have to deal with factional infighting, targeted harassment and politically motivated selective editing. 2

I don't use Reddit that much because it seems a bit confusing. Wikipedia is also more confusing. The GUI and stuff like that kill my brain. Yeah, Reddit isn't too bad, but Wikipedia can be very confusing. Both sites are also loaded with special interest groups. You kind of expect that on Reddit, and at least there's a wide variety of cults. But Wikipedia is significantly more sinister because groups of editors there are taking advantage of its identity as an encyclopaedia to push right wing political propaganda. 1
