Is salary cap really necessary in sport leagues?

Yes. I think it is disgusting how much these athletes get paid. The average salary per football player is between 1 and 2 million dollars.

If I were running the NFL, I would cut each players salaries down to 300k (only for the absolute best players) with a minimum pay of 100k, and then adjust it according to inflation each year. I still think 300k is too high, but oh well. I would then take the left over money from the salary cuts and donate it to scientific research, medical research, and donations to charity.

It's kind of funny (not) when software engineers (~200k/year @ google) who do a lot more work than these football players make a fraction of the money.

There should be a salary cap but it seems to be lost somewhere because athletes continue to get paid astonishing salaries.
