Is schizophrenia (and other related illnesses)

really illnesses or are they something more? Ive read that shamanism and schizophrenia are like the same, except the shamn is focused inward, while the schizophrenic is focused outwards. So are schizophrenics and epileptics (and any other illness) being mislabeled because people dont understand what were going through? Are schizophrenics the modern day shaman in a modern day culture? And now that we are in a kind of "post-shamanic" age (which is false because almost every place outside of the US has shamans today) What do you guys think? the reason I ask all this is cuz like a year and a half ago i started developing the symptoms of SZ, but i dont think sz and other mental illnesses are actual mental illness, sure the physical aspects of the illness are shown, but the mental aspects are not so much "ill" as they are.... whats the word? different, for lack of better word. People are scared of what they dont understand, so anyways, what do you guys think? is there any truths to the paranois/delusions with the sz?

I'm not schizophrenic, nor have I any other (diagnosed) mental condition, but I have experience with, shall we say, shamanism. Various LSA and DMT containing plants, mostly, and Salvia. Stuff like that. Now, once again, I can't say with any certainty because I do not know what it feels like to have such a mental condition as schizophrenia, but I really can't imagine the two being similar. I've heard people make this argument, but I cannot agree with it based on my personal experiences.

LSD bears similar affects to schizophrenia such as unique euphoric madness, hallucinations of all types, and paranoia, but that's about it.

But LSD, being the child of chemistry, not nature, is hardly the tool of the Shaman.

I'm not an expert in either, but I have a certain level of faith in psychology, and I would have to side with them until proven otherwise. Also, I believe all schizophrenics believe what they believe is true (as does everyone else), but that doesn't make it so.

Of course, I know a lot of supposedly sane people who believe things I don't think are true, so whose to say. :)

However, I would be really interested in hearing how the way you view the world is different from everyone else. I have heard that some forms of epileptics are very spiritual. I've heard that the romans used to think that epileptics were touched by the gods, and Karen Armstrong, who is very spiritual, was diagnosed with epilipsy, and the doctor that diagnosed here said that intense spirituality was a symptom of some forms of epilepsy.

I also believe that most forms of psychological disorders are are caused by a normal mental characteristic being turned on too strongly. In other words, we all have a little of the schizophrenic in us, just not enough to cause problems.

If you have just a little schizophrenia, it may be just enough to give you a slightly different perspective on things, and that, I suppose, could cause a person to gravitate towards a shamanistic type of role in his society. In that respect, there may be something to what you're saying.

Well, I would say that I have enough insight to realize my symptoms, and whether or not theyre true, they have been getting far more pronounced. I'm extremely spiritual, yet i was raised without god. My whole life ive felt a greater calling, which is to backpack around the world and heal people, I believe that god created us because you would probably get lonely all by yourself and my guess is that he wanted to see how other things thought and the reason he doesnt intervene in our lives is because that would tamper with the results, much like a scientist doesnt interfere in his experimentts (unless absolutely necessary (miracles)), i dont believe the devil is an actual entity, more of mans interpretation of mans temptation to do evil things, i believe we have been horribly lied too about our origins, i see the world as being puppeteered to accept the mayan prophecy but twist it to make it seem like prophecy came true, and then dupe us all and we'll see another nazi germany in the next few years but in far worse effects. I dont believe you have to go through jesus to get to god, and i believe you can have a personal relationship with god, i look at god as just another soul like me with different values and morals, i think we landed on the moon but they replaced the actual photos with staged photos (neil armstrong reported a heavy alien presence on the moon) I think about if i actually am ill and am just crazy for thinking these things (better safe than sorry i guess?) cuz up until modern times schizophrenics, or any children who possessed "psychic" gifts got the choice of whether to accept the call of a shaman or not. But with all this damn govt mind control and false lies and materialism taking over, idk, i believe we can all reach "god" status, and be the master of our own realities, but only through transcedental meditation, which they should take out PE and put in meditation in schools. And i dont trust doctors diagnoses because 1. theyre probably working against me, and 2 people consider us crazy so of course theyre gonna scoff at us. Ill go consult a spiritual guru (a real one, not these american gypsies) and see what my purpose is.... i want to get the hell out of america, live off the land, and revolutionize the world, i think alot of people who go to the spirit world receive the turth about our origins, and then dilute it with their own biases, so i am practicing to go to the spirit world to sede whats up.... ya.... so much for a debate? lolz
