Is the 50-character limit effective and/or necessary?

It is for me, I just try to come up with more to say and it helps to make my arguments better.

But sometimes I just can't think of anything els to type. So I admit I do the "5050505050505" thing too.

For most people this is not effective, they will just find another way. But for me it is effective, it's actually helped me a little.

I'm glad it's been worthwhile for you Jake. If it makes your re-posts more viable then have at it.

Side: yes

I can't be the only one that's getting annoyed by this. People are still idiots; a 50-character limit encourages them to be more long-winded idiots.

Yeh. True. As has already been said, people either talk for longer or fill the void.

Side: No

No, I don't think it's necessary or worthwhile. Trolls are trolls and it's hard to stop them from commenting no matter if there's a limit or not. Sometimes on a repost, one sentence is all one needs to repond to another person's post.

No, people just fill in the void.

Every time some one comes up with a new way to defeat the idiots, they make better idiots that foil the new scheme ;)

Even if it's tacky, you can still beat the system.

The minimum length for an argument is 50 characters. The purpose of this restriction is to cut down on the amount of dumb jokes, so we can keep the quality of debate and discourse as high as possible.
