Is the far right libertarian or authoritarian? Hello bj: Libertarianism is hands OFF government... Authoritarianism is hands ON government. Here's an example.. The left believes that the person who OWNS a body, ought to be in charge of what happens to it. In other words, hands OFF.. Right wing authoritarians, on the other hand, believe the GOVERNMENT OWNS your body and IS in charge.. In other words, hands ON.. excon 1

As a centrist, I think the far right and the far left, are both authoritarian. Forget the people and read about the history of the ideologies. For millennia the many have served the few. Left wing ideology was invented to try to change that. Authoritarianism is not always bad. For example, it was not bad to get authoritarian with the Nazis. If you are faced with something which is fundamentally destructive at its core then to do nothing is a much greater crime. |
