Is there an exception for every rule?

Should rules and laws be enforced without taking into consideration the reason they were broke?

Oh yes, I believe you are on trial for murder. That is a serious crime, but because you were mentally insane at the time, and you were acting in pure self defense, I think I'll let this one slide...

Well, provide me a rule you find uninfringeable and I will see what I can do.

The rule of thumb is that there is an exception to every rule, including this one ;)

You're speaking about relativism versus absolutes.

A superficial look at life is enough to see that with regards to ethics, laws, and morality, there are no absolutes.

Laws, presumably, have progressed through some democratic process.

Rules usually stem from a smaller input and can be localised.

Apathy is the invisible "supporter" of laws and rules.

In UK we had The Poll Tax Riots in the 1980s, in central London. This forced the government to listen and to change the law.

I think a healthy society is best served with the people challenging laws and rules whenever appropriate.

Exception is decided by time and changing attitudes.

What kind of rules you talking about?

Playground rules or Legislation rules?

Because when it comes to playground rules - there are NO exceptions. No matter what you say. You can come with all sorts of excuses to me but it doesn't change nothing.

In UK we have a law NO SMOKING IN THE WORKPLACE AND PUBLIC PLACES - which includes all clubs - bars - restaurants - buses - taxis - official buildings etc

But, this law does not apply to our elected politicians who are allowed to smoke in their bars based in the House of Commons ??

A golf Club has a rule - Golf shoes are not to be worn inside the Golf Club. This is not law and would never involve the police, but the Club Committee may reprimand you or ban you from the club if you broke their rule.

Playground rules - One school may allow football playing in the playground another may not ? Fighting (anywhere) including school playgrounds is against the law, DISTURBANCE OF THE PEACE, at the very least. School Uniform(in UK) is a rule in some schools, but the government could make it a law, which is a common debate in UK.

Some kids break the uniform rule either by deliberate bloody mindedness or simply being assertive.

Any intelligent person, in my opinion, would believe there is an exception to every rule. Total unquestionable obedience is not the trait or behaviour of intelligent broad thinking people.

That's not playground rules. Lol. Where the fuck were you born and raised??

Said who....?

Grammar: too many exceptions for every language

Law: there shouldn't be. I don't think there is.

School rules, game rules...: no exceptions. There better not be.

When it comes to rules that regulate people’s actions in a democracy, in order to be fair there shouldn't be exceptions.

Unless you pay but that is another story.

If we look at the current Football World Cup > There have been two teams "knocked" out of the tournament through deliberate cheating >Ireland and Ghana,

both were cheated out by deliberate hand ball. Now, the established rule book on Football - which is THE rules accepted across the world which every football team has to abide - states that deliberate hand ball is not permitted. The referee may make a judgement but FIFA, the organising body controlling the rules and discipline,

do nothing about the fact that two National teams were clearly cheated out of their place in the World Cup, despite the fact that millions saw the cheating via television.

Why ? Politics and money !!! Their exception to the rules ????

1 point

Money and politics shouldn't be exceptions to the rule...But they unfortunately are...

We have to face the fact that anyone can get away based on who they are and how much money they have. It is clearly unfair. But what can we do about it... The fact that millions of people witnessed the hand balls apparently isn't enough...

i dont think there is anexception 4 any rule just like if you drink and drive then you most likely get get hurt.

There are plenty of exceptions to rules that are in affect. Take speed limit, for example. When was the last time you got a ticket for driving 56 in a 55 mph zone.

I'm against rules that protect the stupid, like OSHA. If one is dumb enough to stick their hand in a machine and get it cut off, whose fault is ignorance?

I even venture into murder cases. If a guy beats a woman and she is afraid to leave him and set his bed on fire while he sleep; it is not murder, it is just ridding the world one less scumbag.

Is a person that steals beer from a store a thief? Is a person that steals a package of hot dogs to feed his kids a thief? Is being poor a crime?

i think so.but for the principles in the bible, they are neither rules nor exeptions

Side: Hell Yes

No rule is infallible, so, there will be exceptions. There are some dire circumstances happening that would be a valid excuse.
