Is this where pro-lifers want us to go?

I don't believe this is the end result most pro-lifers have in mind (the potential to face murder charges after a miscarriage), but it is the inevitable end result of this kind of legislation.

Without the capability of obtaining an abortion legally, abortions will be obtained illegally as they have in the past, with all of the associated risk of death and infection. Obviously, we'd want to crack down on this kind of illegal abortion regardless of whether or not abortion was attainable legally.

So, in this scenario, when women who were pregnant and suddenly aren't are being the subject of a state-mandated witch hunt, the only way to escape both the pregnancy and the legal ramifications would be to have an intentional miscarriage rather than an abortion. Like it or not, women will be poisoning themselves and injuring themselves in ways that make it appear to be accidental in order to escape both their pregnancy and the legal repercussions. Not all will succeed, and I expect many children would end up born with birth defects and other serious conditions due to the machinations of their mothers in a legally enforced pro-life world. This will become known, and eventually women who legitimately miscarry will end up subject to the witch hunt on top of the emotional devastation that is almost always present with a miscarriage. The mothers of children born with birth defects would also end up scrutinized by the system- and having a child with birth defects is pretty emotionally devastating too.

The end result of this is potentially far worse than depicted in that article.

Who's us? I've never gotten an abortion...

I suppose some of them support sending a woman to jail if she does get an illegal abortion, but i've never really heard that argument from the pro-life sect. It's usually just against the legality to do so. Abortion doctors, however, may face more of a penalty in the world of a pro-life legislation.
