Is two hours of homework a night reasonable?
Two hours of homework a night is common in highschool, especially in advanced classes. But is that really practical and/or fair after 6 hours of school?

Homework should take as long as needs to, also how do you have 9 hours school BTW? And putting in 4 hours is impressive, assuming you don't have someone with a cat o' nine tails standing behind your chair. When i was your age I went absolutely insane, I'm amazed you can maintain such discipline. Side: Yes, its for the best
School is 8-5. We do have 45 minutes most days free (used for homework) and 45 minutes for lunch. So I usually only have 3 hours of homework to do when I get home unless I have clubs or meetings that day. It usually still takes my 4 hours because....ooh shiny object. In english we have essays weekly and read 120-150 pages each week. Math is about 20 pages of proofs and problems weekly. Spanish is a breeze (I time myself while taking our 5 page spanish tests every week--my record is 16 minutes ;) of 50 allotted). Science doesn't give us homework besides lab reports but studying takes a ton of time. History is the same way (unless we have a paper which is rare). Electives only give us big projects over the weekend. All in all, its tolerable. I take many breaks in the middle (usually checking CreateDebate or playing on my phone). Right now I am writing a history paper on the socio-economic inequality of civilizations. Side: Yes, its for the best

It's not about what's reasonable, but what's necessary. I very rarely did my homework except when absolutely necessary, and in retrospect I believe that my grades suffered because of it (something I would never have admitted at the time). But, as far as I was concerned, why waste two hours working on what I've already learned and don't care for when I might as well study Latin, demonology, or philosophy? Side: Yes, its for the best
