It is wrong to tell people what to do.

We hold these truths to be self evident that all people are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights such as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

It is wrong to tell people what to do?

Yes, but it is far worst not to tell them what to do.

Side: I agree.

A bit of an inverse of my opinion regarding obedience to authority, so to speak.

I believe that generally speaking it is wrong to tell people what to do. We should treat one another as equals by default, and telling people what to do amounts to treating them as below you.

That said, in cases where authority is legitimate and beneficial (such as the need for some form of governance to maintain some semblance of order, some form of organization to accomplish tasks that require multiple disparate skillsets and/or large numbers of individuals with similar skillsets, authority to successfully teach a student or raise a child, etc), it is not wrong, but is in fact almost 100% necessary.

Still, legitimate authority is a subset of this category, so I would classify it as the exception, with telling people what to do being wrong as a general rule.

Side: I agree.

It is wrong for each one of us knows what we should be doing; However if in case anybody does something notorious,it's better to warn him rather than allowing him to commit the wrong again;yet to poke into somebody's personal habits and affairs is certainly not seen as something good by the public.

Freedom of speech. Fact.

What if they are your boss, and they are telling you how to do your job? Or your teacher, telling you how to do your work? Or you are in the military, and they are telling you your orders?

Yeah definitely wrong to tell people not to steal or kill people.

Honestly it depends. If you tell someone to do something because you think it's for their benefit, that's not wrong. It depends on how you word things. "You must..." versus "I think you should...."

Side: I disagree.

Sometimes you need to tell people what to do for their own good.

In an organized community, the members are bound by the social contract which holds the society together.

No one is forcing you to obedience, but rather you have implicitly agreed to comply by being a member of the community.

Side: I disagree.

Humans constantly organize themselves into groups in which there is a leader (alpha-dog) and there are followers. It seems natural.

Side: I disagree.

Its a relative question, it depends on the situation, in life some people are leaders and most are followers so at some stage someone needs to tell someone what to do or nothing will get done!

There is a difference between telling and ordering.

As long as you are telling someone what they are doing is wrong or maybe incorrect according to you in a polite way without being rude or obnoxious its okay.

People have a tendency to take constructive criticism the wrong way (even if it is given in a polite manner). Whether it is right or wrong to tell people what to do is another matter.
