It should be noted that Bernie embodies progressivism, not full on socialism. In other words, progressivism is moderated capitalism where the predatory rich are kept in line. Socialism is defunct and essentially is progressivism one step back (the theory of equality without the application of human greed and motive to work). Progressives are basically the Christian's to the Judaism while the Judaism is socialism. We see Marx as a good person morally but admit that even the oh so saintly Trotsky got it wrong when they tried to stop privatisation altogether. Side: Let's do it

How is eliminating predatory capitalism one step back from merely trying to keep it in check without eliminating the root of the problem? Also "human greed" is the result of one of two extremes, scarcity or being a spoiled little bastard. eliminate poverty and spoiledness and for the most you will eliminate greed. Not entirely but enough so that it isn't a worldwide problem that can ruin whole civilizations.
