Liberals and Conservatives, and what is needed from both.

Regardless of whether or not you side with one or the other, the one thing that the Nation is lacking in is... well a union. I understand and relate to both sides of the political spectrum and feel that both have positives and negatives. However, now that we have a new president, we need for both sides to work together. We have pretty equal amount of both Conservatives and Liberals and constantly clash due to differences in ideals. This being said, I know that with the Presidential election in the past, that this may sound slightly familiar to most of us, but it must be said, We truly are stronger together. Din't get me wrong I am and was not a Clinton supporter, but I know wisdom when I see it. I feel that it is time to unite, Liberals and Conservatives, so that we can in the future be able to see eye to eye on topics. The more these two sides clash and struggle to gain the upper-hand on the other, the more disunity and paranoia sets in. I sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. Please feel free to comment on how we could and should do this. And remember this is about unity, and so basically me writing this means there will be a debate about which side is better, which only proves my point even more.

I agree. It's perfectly wonderful to have different ideas. That's what helps a country grow. Try one thing, if it doesn't work have an idea and try another. What isn't ok is when we stop trying ideas because everyone is too stuck on their own and want to halt the process. I think at some point we can all be guilty of that but when we let go of our own ego and open our minds, I think we can achieve greatness.

We need to work together as a cohesive nation. And part of working together is shedding the silly and destructive oversimplifications of Liberal vs Conservative and instead focusing on the finer details. What works and doesn't work? Is an idea a good idea regardless of where it came from? Is the idea and it's plan fully vetted or will shoving it through do stupid damage?

Yet, with all that said, we also need checks and balances so no single party or side can ride roughshod over everything and get away with murder. Which means the Conservatives, who hold monopoly on Washington right now, need to show they're not trying to get away with murder - so to speak - so their check and balance (the Liberals, and/or also the media) can lighten up and try to work with them to move forward together.

You Progressives don't won't to work together as a cohesive nation. 8 years of Barack Obama hasn't taught you Progressives one thing. Look at the damage that was done to your party under Barack Obama.
