Liberals and Conservatives are both wrong about Islam

Now first off I'm going to make some broad generalizations about conservatives and liberals, obviously there is a lot of variability in these views, but I think the following does a decent job of representing the current state of political discourse. Now let's get started:

Liberals are wrong about Christian Extremism being equal in severity or extent to Islamic Extremism. It is not, not even remotely. Perhaps this was the case in 1480 but it is not the case today.
The usual comparison of the Westboro Baptist Church to ISIL epitomizes the flawed nature of these comparisons. The Westboro Baptist church has never killed anyone. There is no comparison to be made.

Conservatives are wrong that Islamic Extremism is the result of the inherent violence of Muslims or of the Quran. If anything the Quran contains fewer justifications of violence than the Torah. The violence in the Islamic world today has historic and geopolitical causes. The Christian world was much more violent in the middle ages, and there are historic and geopolitical reasons for this, as there are historic and geopolitical reasons for the violence today.

That sounded fair and reasonable to me. Agreed.

To be honest, pick most any topic where two polar opposite extremes are screaming mad and you'll usually find on closer examination the real truth is somewhere in the middle, and their rationales for their extreme positions really don't have merit other than an excuse to keep being mad.

Shouldn't your debate title be: "Liberals are wrong about Christianity and Conservatives are wrong about Islam"?

Just like a progressive to go off topic.

What are the historic and geopolitical causes for Islamic terrorism?

There are a lot of factors, one of the key factors I think would have to be the proliferation of Insular Ultraconservative Wahhabism which precipitated under great political strife during the waning influence of Arabic States. This occurred in a way that strongly paralleled the rise of Nazism in Germany during the early 20th Century.

Regardless, if a country has unstable people that can rise to power continuously and often, it is pretty clear to me that people have to be sent in externally to stabilize the country, even if that means through conquest and re-education. Otherwise, their problems will eventually become everyone else's problems.

By re-education, I mean education of their children, and by people, I mean soldiers, peace keepers and teachers. You can't address killers by ignoring them. This is why wars keep popping up. Stability was brought to much of Europe after WW2 because their armies were taken away, and the US put in their armies and media influence.

Next you bar all weapons (by non-millitary), and make people settle their disputes with their hands. Fighting with fists is more exhausting and will eventually tire people out.

Kill all killers and people who are bad according to American values :|
