While I think outrage over ANY piece of fiction shows lack of perspective and judgment, I think your statement is hyperbolic. Moreover, I think your exaggeration affords these meddlesome spoilsports more dignity than they or their outrage merit.

Regarding "heartwarming"

The Grimm version, and Basile's original version are not actually heartwarming. The Disney movie is not particularly based on emotional content, either. There is no sacrifice, just good and evil and adventure. It is a fun story with some symbolism and archetypes, but it's heartwarming content is at a minimum. For contrast, consider Disney's The Fox and the Hound or Maleficent.

Regarding "marred"

I don't see how humorless scolds are able to "mar" the private experience kids have while reading, or watching the movie. Kids don't care about liberal outrage. Most of the rest of us are merely annoyed by it, and disdain such over-reactive silliness.

Regarding "vicious"

The intervention does not rise to the level of "vicious." It is merely petty and mean-spirited. The liberals are generally well-meaning busybodies who are too focused on virtue signalling and displaying self-righteousness to actually put in the effort or attention to be vicious.

Regarding "filthy"

I don't think their minds are particularly filthy. They are too puritanical. If their minds really were filthy, I think the liberals would be having more fun, and be less outraged.

I think they just assume everything else is filthy.

In the words of H.L Mencken, "At the bottom of Puritanism one finds envy of the fellow who is having a better time in the world, and hence hatred of him."

In two sentences, Mencken explained the attitude and motivation of many outraged leftists.

3)Last I checked, if I had to compare what Trump alledgedly said to what McCain said about Palin, I'd say the Palin comments by McCain were more hurtful and vile.
