Yep, this is true. But I also want to point out that a lot of the older people now who preach this mantra benefitted themselves from substantial help in their lives, whether it was their first car from their parents, financial aid in school, first time home buyer programs, etc. It's easy when you've been established for years to point at people starting out and imply they're not as self made as you are. Indeed, that can and often is true, there are a lot of young bums out there, but a lot of you were not much better when you started out. Side: Yes, yes

39% of young working millennials and 44% of older working millennials work more than one job (compared to just 29% in the general working population) Just under half of 15-24 year olds in the USA are employed: https://data.oecd.org/emp/employment-rate-by-age-group.htm A study of 1,000 adults in the USA suggests that baby boomers may actually be more entitled than millennials: http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/ Millennials are not actually that much more entitled than anyone else. However, it is more difficult for millennials to find jobs than their parents did in their youth, a job is no longer guaranteed for life, and in a lot of countries, higher education is more expensive than it was.
