Light hearted debate/what type of dog to get?

About a month ago we lost our mini schnauzer of 15 years to heart disease, we still miss her a great deal.  We want to adopt a new pupper and are going in between a big one or a smaller one like she was.  Personally I love Pit bulls, labs, mutts and the like so really I suppose it's a two part question.  Do yall like smaller dogs?  Larger dogs?  Do you have a favorite dog breed?  Just wanted a little light hearted conversation among everyone.

With bigger one's you can feel more protected (of course depends on the breed) and are sturdier for children to play with (responsibly).

The way I figure it, you need a dog that's big enough to be a threat to someone who's trying to kick in your door, and small enough that they're not going to either be a furry cannonball when they get excited or eat you out of house and home.

Knee height or a little larger is perfect. And you should always, always rescue a mutt.

I do agree with that. The best dog I had as a kid was a mutt.

Interestingly enough, many insurance companies won't cover a home that has a large pupper like Great Danes for that very reason. I'd forgotten about that until you suggested it. :D

With a smaller one they are easier to carry up and down stairs if they have an issue, plus wouldn't take up much space when traveling but can get underfoot.

Some kind of rescue mutt the size of a boxer. They are kind of medium sized right?

I'd say they are between medium to large. I'd prefer a mutt or a cross breed, usually less health issues too!

A link to a picture of my mutt below.

Maybe contact someone in North Korea and ask them which breed is tastiest ;)
