I hate Marijuana. But it should be legal. Just like alcohol and tobacco and fast food etc. (things that are bad for you that I also don't like, accept fast food (; )are legal. Especially when alcohol is the stuff that actually makes people aggressive and ruins families and can lead to abuse. If anything is gunna be illegal, make it alcohol. And no I don't think It will do wonders for the economy. Side: yes

Thank you for being open minded Jake. But I have to disagree with you on the fact that you think it will not do wonders for the economy. With the legaliztion of Cannabis would most certainly come the legaliztion to grow and manufacture Hemp products. Hemp can be used for virutally anything and the industry would explode over night. You have to remember that legaliztion would effect multiple markets. Side: No

Im on your side on the legalization of marijuana and the fact on why alcohol should be illegalized, both very good points. But if the tabacco industries are making so much money then imagine how much the marijuana would make. And by the way its almost impossible to like fast food and not like marijuana. Side: Yes and No
Lol well, I think it's the other way around about the fast food thing. Almost impossible to like marijuana and not like fast food. (; About alcohol, I'm just saying it's crazy that weed is illegal and alcohol isn't. Doesn't necessarily mean it should be illegal. The government shouldn't worry about what we consume. But if I had to choose between alcohol and weed to be illegal I would choose alcohol for sure. And I agree about the money it could make, I had that discussion with ReichPride and changed my mind. Marijuana has huge amounts of byproducts which can be valuable to the community. Its medicinal properties are well known and studied. It would provide jobs across the country, provide hemp crops for textile use, and would provide large amounts of tourism revenue from potheads worldwide. It provides an extra source of taxation for the government (they can tax pot as heavily as they do with cigarettes). It also removes a major gateway to other more dangerous illegal substances. Pot is possible to saliva test roadside, thus providing another area for the government to pull revenue from (drug driving). It also frees up police officers who are busy chasing minor users, and enables them to go after more serious criminals. Side: yes

Actually, I'm not a stoner. I don't like the stuff, tried it once when I was 18, had a bad reaction, and I've never tried it again. However, that doesn't stop me from seeing that it has huge economic benefits. Plus I've seen its benefits on a friend of mine who has scoliosis. Muscle relaxants do very little for him and they have bad side effects, whereas pot helps him to function and leaves him relatively pain free. Side: yes

The moment marijuana can get sold over the counter in stores at a cheaper price that your local drug dealer can supply it, it removes the "gateway" part of it. Users are lining up at the supermarket rather than lining up at the drug dealer's house. The exposure to the dealer is the part that makes it a gateway. Because that dealer has a vested interest in getting you to use something much more highly addictive. That dealer gets more out of you if you're going to him every other day rather than once every few weeks. Side: yes

The addictive properties of Tetrahydrocannabinol make you addicted to weed the very first time you try it. Legalizing just makes everyone addicted to it and once you are addicted you eat food all day and sit on your couch which will cause the labor force to shrink and the world to eventually end! What's bad about marijuana is that you have to burn it in order to get the best high. The burning part is what causes health problems less in danger than smoking tobacco. Marijuana is totally healthy and science proved that the old crap used to be told on TV and newspaper is just not true. It does not produce violence (exactly the opposite), it does not kill brain cells at all, and it does not make you insane. Side: yes
Who is the government to tell people what is good and bad for them? Caffeine kills 400 people a year, and weed kills none. Starbucks doesn't take shit though. I love weed, and it's been shown to improve brain function after your 18, but before it slows down growth a bit. The government has no right to tell people that its illegal when bogeys f up your lungs more and alcohol kills your brain even more, and both of them together kill wayyyyyyyyyy more than pot. I would have to say no! because to smoke Marijuana you would have to light it then smoke it, which will increase your carbon foot print and intern cause Global Warming and kill the polar bears. large areas of land will become hot and humid which will intern become great farm land on which to grow pot... am i rambling? I'm fucking high.... legalize it! Side: No
Unlike tobacco and alcohol, marijuana is a gateway drug. Once you start on it, you want some more, until you grow tolerance and need something stronger. Then you move on to all the other drugs that turn people into zombies. And besides, once you legalize marijuana, what's next? Will they legalize all those other drugs that make people into mindless, drug-dependent loons? Side: No

Yeah man when I tried pot thats exactly how I felt, a mindless drug-dependant looney. I agree that unlike marijauna you cant build up tolerance to alcohol or tobacco. I mean I get just as drunk off one shot as I did when I started drinking and I get buzzed every morning when I have my cigarette. You are also correct in saying that people who smoke pot also do all sorts of other drugs. Everysingle person I know that is addicted to weed is also addicted to heroin and are trying to sell meth. Side: SMOKE WEED EVERYDAY
Ahhh, yes. Of course everyone who does weed will do other drugs. Clearly you don't know anyone who smokes weed and your just reciting the DARE propaganda they told you. If something harmless like weed can lead to something dangerous like meth, than drinking milk leads to vodka. Not everyone who smokes weed is stupid enough to try any other drug. And you don't build up tolerance and NEED something. I know tons of people who smoke everyday and get better grades than non smokers, haven't tried any other drugs, and are less zombie like than someone spouting out propaganda someone told to them. And btw, all my friends who smoke are usually A LOT more interesting than people who don't. Side: yes
