There are many reasons why Luigi is superior to Mario. First off, He's taller and can jump higher. Mario is short and fat, while Luigi is much more athletic. In addition, while Mario is constantly battling Bowser and Wario, Luigi is mostly staying peaceful, with his main antagonist (Waluigi) being a petty criminal who first appeared in a tennis game. Also, the main argument against Luigi is that he's a coward. However, in Luigi's mansion he fends off tons of ghostly Boos to rescue Mario. In addition, in the SM64DS (and maybe the SM64, I haven't played that) Mario's special ability is to swell up like a balloon and float around, while Luigi turns invisible and walks through walls. Plus, he can walk on water, and in some games he shoots lightning instead of fireballs. Finally, he actually has a girl. You may say, "What? Mario's got Princess Peach! He rescues her all the time!" but bear with me. In SMB2 we discover that Peach can create a sphere of flames and almost fly. She's more powerful than Mario, or pretty much anyone else in the franchise. Also, most of the times that she's captured she's standing right next to the key to Bowser's destruction. When Mario does rescue her, she rewards him with a kiss on the nose -- not even the lips, the nose! Then, when Baby Bowser reveals that Peach is his mother, she displays no surprise, thus revealing that she's been having sex with Bowser all along. He might be raping her, but she displays no revulsion at the sight of her children. The only explanation is that Peach and Bowser are secretly in love, leaving Mario without a girl. Daisy, on the other hand, has never shown us any hint that she has anything but a steady relationship with Luigi. Plus, she's way hotter. All of this combines into uncontroversial fact -- Luigi is better than Mario. Side: Luigi
Height does not dictate status, and neither does jumping. Luigi may jump higher, but his jumps are tremendously less accurate than Mario's. However, Mario both runs faster and has better traction than his younger sibling, which is a pure plus over Luigi. Mario is neither short nor fat. Any recent image of him is clear evidence of that. Neither brother is definitively more "athletic" than the other. Simply because Mario is actually a fighter and Luigi is a pacifist (albeit due to his cowardice) doesn't make Luigi any better than Luigi in the slightest. That is an opinionated fallacy. Waluigi is not Luigi's "antagonist". Waluigi is merely his foil. Just because their names and personality are complete opposites does not mean they are purely against each other. The best you can call their relationship is that of a "rivalry". Saying Waluigi is antagonistic to Luigi is like saying Wario is Mario's antagonist is Wario; that is obviously not true. While they are enemies, Mario's antagonist is Bowser. The brothers share a common enemy. Even if Luigi is not a coward, that merely refutes an argument that makes him look bad. It doesn't make him look any better. Besides, it's a logical guess to assume that Mario would have done the same thing for Luigi. Oh wait, he DID save Luigi, in SM64:DS. And in M&L;:BIS. So what if Mario's special ability was to float in the air, and Luigi's was to be invisible and walk through walls. Both abilities are extremely situational. Mario can also walk in water via a mini mushroom. Lightning is not necessarily a better ability than fire, as they both get the job done. And even if it was, it is implied Mario has power over lightning as well, as evidenced by Dr. Mario's forward smash in SSB:M. It doesn't matter if Peach is stronger than Mario; that's irrelevant. This is Mario VS Luigi, not Mario VS Peach. The game you are referencing about Peach being Bowser Jr's mother is Super Mario Sunshine. Prior to the credits, Bowser tries to tell Bowser Jr that Peach is not really his mother, to which Bowser Jr replies preemptively that he already knows. Peach is NOT Bowser Jr's mom. Luigi has never saved Daisy once. The only evidence of them loving one another are vague references in the Mario Sports franchise games. One could argue that Mario "has a girl" and Luigi doesn't. Daisy being hotter is your opinion. Personally, I like Peach more, although Daisy's tomboyish demeanor is nice. And thus, a refutation. Mario and Luigi are the exact same, except for minor variations in physical "prowess". Regardless, Mario is superior due to him having a much more stellar personality and being far more reliable, which can be proved simply by speaking to Luigi's partners in PM:TTYD. Every partner emphasized how klutzy and, in some cases, cowardly Luigi is. They are pretty much the same except Mario has a better personality. Mario is better than Luigi. Side: Mario
If you have a sibling of roughly the same age, height is a big thing. It is a sign of dominance in most cases. Compared to most of the Mario characters, Mario himself is a little round in the middle. Luigi does not have this problem at all. Again, Luigi is much more in shape than Mario. Mario is definitely more round than Luigi is. Saying Mario is a fighter is like saying Little Mac is a marathon runner. Both could be true, but they aren't. Mario has appeared in fighting games, yes, but Luigi has always been right behind him. Yes, Luigi can be a coward, but not when it counts. He doesn't hide in the Mario household while Mario romps around the Mushroom Kingdom (because it can't be considered fighting). He's either helping, holding the fort and wishing he could go, or on his own adventure. True, Waluigi and Luigi are not bitter rivals, but you know who is? Luigi and King Boo. Luigi beat the guy. Twice. Mario beat him once. And lets not forget that Mario got his ass kidnapped by King Boo. Twice. And Luigi saved him both times. Again, Mario rescued Luigi twice, but Luigi did it 3 times (Just off the top of my head). Mario is Missing, and both Luigi's Mansion's. Would you rather: Get fatter and lazily float upwards or Become invisible and able to walk through solid objects. Which is more practical? Luigi doesn't need power-ups to run on water. Luigi can use lightning AND fire at will, something Mario cannot. Smash Bros isn't canon to begin with. In Mario Kart Wii, Daisy's Circuit has all the evidence we need that either they are together, or Daisy wants to be. Mario has no personality to begin with, or at least beyond "Wahoo!" and "It's-a me!" One could argue that Luigi's clumsiness gives him character beyond anything Mario's ever done. Yes, he's cowardly and clumsy, but he still pulls through. Luigi is physically better, and has a better personality. Need I mention Mr. L? Mario ain't got nothin on Luigi. Side: Luigi

I choose Luigi because he is more athletic and he is taller. He might be a coward but he is smart. Luigi is mostly afraid of things because he cares about his brother. Plus he is goofy and funny. Luigi is saving Mario's butt most of the time because his brother is usually careless. Luigi is just much more better. Side: Luigi

I picked Luigi for several reasons.One,his physical attributes.He is faster,jumps higher & when he uses triple jump he starts to scuttle jump for more height.Also the ability to jumps higher means when he ground pounds the momentum will cause more damage to foes.Two,Nintendo admitted that Luigi is smarter than Mario.Luigi has even done things better than Mario ever would.Also,even when he was brainwashed into being Mr.L (also known as Green Thunder) he was still able to be the game boss.And Mario was SO stupid Mario didn't realize that Luigi was brainwashed.He never said anything about the new look either.Luigi even managed to beat King Boo,which Mario was unable to do at the time,even though he was afraid of ghosts.This shows Luigi's loyalty and determination.If Mario did end up attacking Luigi (probably got mad because Luigi is a better athlete) Luigi's determination to end his problem would be able to easily battle anything Mario had.Luigi is kinder than Mario,causing him to have more friends to back him up.Also,just look at Super Mario Galaxy.When you collect all the stars,Luigi becomes the star of the game and the difficulty is raised.I theorize this is because if you made Luigi play with the same difficulty it would be too easy,One because you know how to do all the stuff already and two cause Luigi is too awesome for Mario's difficulty.Also for those who say "Oh,Luigi won't fight Mario.He's a pussy," Luigi even fought Super Mario Bros 3.In Super Mario Bros 3,Luigi is still fuming at Mario.Mario gets captured and Luigi rescues him.(AGAIN!)This shows that Luigi will keep his emotions in check to get the job done.Mario doesn't,although I will admit he does a good job at using his anger to help him.Luigi is more of a tank(probably due to his clumsy nature toughening him to endure his falls),Luigi is better equipped than Mario,Dream Luigi grants Luigi INSANE power,Luigi is way stronger as Dream Luigi,Luigi Knows White Tanooki's weakness,while Mario doesn't know DREAMY LUIGI'S weakness,and doesn't Luigi have the same power ups as Mario (and more) plus he knows the power ups weaknesses?I'm just sayin' Side: Luigi
