McCain Lead, without eye contact ?
In the very 1st debate between McCain and Obama, McCain not one time made eye contact with Sen. Obama. This posed a concern for me, if McCain was unable to look Obama in the eye ( not even once) how could we possibly entrust our lives in his hand, for even though you disagree with another American you still acknowledge them. This shows weak character on McCain's behalf because as Americans we know if a Man/Woman can not look you in the eye while communicating with you their heart is not wholesome for you or your concerns. This election one we have never seen before and I encourage all Americans to look beyond the surface and hear the message while truly viewing the actions of your candidate of choice. 3

I would venture to say the debate itself was a fair beginning but nothing of note was exposed there. I do not like the fact that McCain could not, would not, look Obama in the eye. The only thing of note, and it's not a good one, was that McCain kept coming back to HIS Veterans and military rhetoric. I did not appreciate that when there is so much more at stake in this election. I believe Obama showed himself Presidentially, and by that I mean that he never blinked in answering McCain but took him on strongly but nicely. My vote is 50-50 with no clear "winner." I know what you're saying about the votes. I now have a -1 for the comment- "You just gave me a nice vision! Sounds fun! I agree, I think he knows that kind of home fun stuff" in response to your colorful description of a day with the Obama's. Now how can you get a minus 1 for that!! Seriously! Oh well, there will always be someone who stomps their feet when they disagree. Just gave you back one point. Someone will probably just take it away. Smile :))))) Side: Reality check

I agree. While I have always viewed McCain as sincere, genuine, and trustworthy, his lack of eye contact with Obama last night made me a little uneasy. He did say in the beginning he was not feeling well lately and he did also try and postpone the debate, so perhaps he's not all "there". Lets give it a second shot at the next debate. (Disclaimer: I am neither an Obama nor a McCain supporter at this time. I am still undecided.) Side: Reality check

The reason McCain almost didn't make it to the debate was not because he hadn't been feeling well. It was because of the ongoing talks in Washington about the bailout. He said he wasn't going to journey to Mississippi if an agreement or something very close to it had not been reached. Guess what? No agreement and McCain decided to show up anyway. Not feeling well is a poor excuse for not looking his competitor in the eye while speaking to him. Side: Reality check
Though it took him a while to do so, Obama was eventually willing to look at and address McCain directly, something McCain was either unwilling or unable to do from start to finish. Obama clearly wins the debate, from my way of thinking. Obama never said he'd sit down and drink some beers with terrorists; he said, very firmly, that as President he reserved to right to sit down and talk with anyone, not just those whom a military machine would dictate he talk to. Throughout the debate, and throughout the campaign, Obama has respectfully avoided the painful, unanswered question which no one seems to be asking: Whether or not McCain is fit to hold office. And this issue goes beyond just the candidate's age. Side: Reality check

Well, when I saw the debate I saw Obama's lips flapping. Usually, if your lips are flapping, then you're talking. If you're talking, then there's potential for lying. From a body language perspective, Obama could've been lying. I mean, if his lips are flapping, that's not good, potentially. Side: his lips were flapping
