Messages attributed to god(s) indeed do originate from (a) conscious being(s).
I was thinking that atheists and theists should be able to agree that this statement is true.

Of course they do something unconscious couldn't send complicated religious messages. Even if it could it would have to be translated by a conscious being and in that case its still true because this one conscious being is telling every other conscious being, the message is still originating from a conscious being. Yes but it is circular reasoning. A message is something that a conscious being sends. Therefore, if I receive a message a conscious being must have created it. A message is information. If a 'message' comes from a non-concious being then it is not a message but rather some information we have gathered from something. Side: true

The question asked "do I believe messages attributed to God originate from a conscious being" So I asked myself.... what are these messages attributed to god? A burnt waffle with Jesus' face on it? Clouds forming the shape of an eye? A lucky coincidence where a robber is stopped and their victim is saved? These, if they are the signs you speak of, are actually things that happen naturally in our universe, or so I believe. Therefore these signs attributed to God, actually originate from our universe. Bringing me back to the question, do I believe the messages attributed to God originate from a conscious being. Seeing as they originate from the universe, that I do not believe to be conscious my answer is no. Side: false
