Minimum Wage Increase In New York City Leads To Job Losses, Price Increases
Hello bront:
That's the spin, isn't it?? But, let's look deeper.. Suppose a burger flipper makes $9/hr and got a raise to $15/hr.. So, math tells us that we're talking about $6/hr.. Having been in the restaurant business, a good burger flipper can make 200 burgers per hour. That's $0.03/burger. Then you got the order taker, the order wrapper, the french fry maker, the janitor, the manger, etc... Let's just call it 10 support workers @$0.03/burger.. That's an increased cost of $.30/burger...
McDonald's sells a quarter pounder meal for $5.79.. If McDonald's just wanted to break even on wage increase, it would only have to raise the price of the above mentioned meal to $6.10..
As a consumer, would you AVOID that meal because it costs $.30 more? Uh, no you wouldn't.. You probably wouldn't even notice it.. Isn't math fun?
The legal minimum wage for New York City employers with 11 or more workers rose more than 15 percent on Dec. 31, 2018, to $15 per hour from $13, giving fast-food, retail and other employees a bump in pay. But some New York City restaurant owners say the latest minimum wage hike is forcing them to cut workers' hours just to stay afloat.
SUPER STUPID is CBS lying to you ???????????????????????????????????????????
It's not just the hourly rate of burger flippers. It would involve the cost of doing business with their suppliers. The price of just everything will go up. From cups and straws to condiments. It all adds up.
It's not just the hourly rate of burger flippers. It would involve the cost of doing business with their suppliers.
Which obviously has fuck all to do with the burger flipper. Sorry Mr Burger Flipper, we can't pay you enough to live on because it would "involve the cost of doing business" with our suppliers?
What you need my son is a good, old-fashioned slap in the mush.
Math is fun. Honesty is even more fun. My combo meals at Mcdonald's have gone up to nine dollars. They used to be 6 dollars!
Hello again,
I've simply shown that a raise from $9/hr to $15/hr, in a burger joint that sells 200 burgers/hr with 10 employees per shift, equates to $.30 cents a burger..
Looks like a 7th grade math problem. Some of you got it.. Some of you didn't.
Again SUPER STUPID types what it does not know about !!!!!!!!!!!

SUPER STUPID you type PURE NONSENSE as if you something about NOTHING !!!!!!!!
Has MOMMY and DADDY not let your DUMB ASS out of the BASEMENT yet ????????
I agree. We have far too many useful idiots in this nation.
They were created by these same corrupt politicians in charge. In the old days, irresponsible behavior led to a hard life. People then learned the hard way from their irresponsible choices.
Today's Democrat Politicians use these useful idiots as their voting block. The Left wants to keep their base on Government dependence, thereby securing their elections.
This is why Democrats never have new ideas on lifting African Americans into the middle class. The Left want's Black people to stay in those inner cities, keeping that 95% Black vote.
The Left wants to flip the scales of life lessons. They would penalize the responsible hard working successful people, and pander to the able bodied lazy irresponsible free loaders.
Human nature will take the easy road when a corrupt politician redistributes money from the hard workers.
I agree. We have far too many useful idiots in this nation.
The debate is over once FoamWithin agrees with you. That is the point at which you discover you have lost so badly that you are being backed up by a guy who flails himself everyday while singing the lord's prayer.
If it's not the site bigot once again ridiculing people simply for their faith.
That's your opinion why I'm ridiculing you. Mine is that you are self-evidently mad. If madness had an international symposium you would be first choice to chair the meeting.
How does it feel to be a judgmental loser?
Judgemental.
And given the fact that you are the one who drones on incessantly every day about how people who have abortions are murderers, I think you've got some remarkable nerve to label anybody else judgemental.
Then again, you are self-evidently mad, are you not? One cannot be too surprised that mad people say mad things.
If you actually read my posts, you would know that I hardly ever go after the mothers who abort, but those politicians and voters who keep it legal.
But you of course are deceptive.
So let me get this straight, do you think it is judgmental to speak out against murderers, and put them in jail for their offense?
What we are talking about is corrupt politicians and voters who helped legalized the killing of viable babies for votes and convenience. Just because inhuman people legalize a barbaric act, does not make it judgmental to speak out against it.
I will say it like it is! People who spoke out against Slavery were not judgmental, they were people with humanity.
People like you are no different then the slave traders who tried to paint anti slavery folks as being judgmental.
I don't see why liberals can't understand why this happens. It's basic economics.
I don't see why you can't understand that slave labour is a bad thing.
I don't see why you can't understand that dropping useful phrases like "basic economics" does not explain or justify your support for slave labour.
If capitalist economics cause people to either get ripped off or face job losses then obviously capitalist economics are fucking shit, aren't they? Dumbass.
Minimum wage jobs are not meant to provide a living wage. They are for young people just entering the job market. They have high turnover because people get a better paying job and move on. It is not slave labor. No one is forcing anyone to work there.
Minimum wage jobs are not meant to provide a living wage.
Lol. Oh God you're just so laughably stupid. Why would anybody work a job which doesn't pay them enough to live on? You're literally a retard. You make comments like this and then two hours later you'll be complaining about crime, blaming skin colour and denying the link to poverty.
What I mean by a living wage is enough money to support a family. One person can live on minimum wage. They can even afford a used car. If they want a better job, they need to work for it. They could be a manager at a fast food joint. They could go to college or a tech school. They could even start their own business. Minimum wage jobs are for unskilled workers. It's is not slavery. It is paying someone what their skills are worth. The difference between conservatives and libeals is that conservatives believe that someone should work hard for what they get. Liberals want to just give everything away, whether or not someone has earned it. That's socialism. It doesn't work. Never has, and never will.
think about what we would do if we had to start paying our neighbor $15 per hour to mow our lawn.
Hello From:
Let's have some fun with math. I have an average size yard.
MY landscaper brings a helper and gets the job done in about in about 15 minutes.. I pay him $25 and throw in a $5 tip for his helper.
That works out to $15/hr for each worker for one quarter of an hour.. DUDE! I'm paying my lawnmowers $60/hr.. Course, I subcontract for the job, not the hours.. That's how contracting works..
Whaddya pay your neighbors in Bumfuk? $5/hr??? How long does it take? 2-3 hours? Do you get professional landscapers? Nahh.. Do you care? Nahh.
Idiot. It's either $15/hr or $15/quarter hr. It can't be both.
Hello again, H:
Let's review, shall we??
I pay my landscaper $30 for two people for 15 minutes of work.. The math works this way.. Each worker got paid $15 for 15 minutes. To get their hourly rate, you mulitiply $15 times 4.. By my math, that works out to $60 per hour, per worker. Maybe commie math is different.
