Moral dilemma: Did I do the right thing

On my way to school I saw a female classmate walking to school.  Since I was driving I decided to stop and ask her if she wanted a ride.  She hesitated at first but in the end she decided to get in the car.

I remember thinking at the time that she was acting a little strange and I noticed that she had a brown paper bag with her.  That seemed unusual because everyone stuffs everything into their book/back-pack.  But what really got my senses tingling was the way she was holding it.  She was clutching it as if her life depended on it and she seemed distant.  She was acting as though she was more concerned about the bag than she was about chatting with me.

I asked her, “What’s in the bag?”

She – “What’s it to you?”

Me – “Look, I’m doing you a favor by picking you up and taking you to school.  I just want to make sure I did the right thing and that I am not going to get in trouble for something unbeknownst to me.”

She – “Fine!  I didn’t even ask for your help.  I’m fully capable of walking to school all by myself.  I don’t need you.  If you feel that strongly about it then just drop me off right here.”

Me – “For crying out loud…, I just want to make sure there’s nothing in the bag that’s going to get me in trouble.  Why can’t you just reassure me that there’s nothing in the bag I should worry about?  What’s in the bag?”

She – “What’s it to you?”

Me – “OK, if you want to play it that way then get out.”

So I pulled the car over, reached across her and opened the door.  I could tell that she was furious as she struggled with the seatbelt, trying to get it off.  She was forced to put the bag on the floor so that she could use both hands to unbuckle the thing, she was that pissed.  When she finally got it off she stepped out, told me to F*** off and slammed the door shut.  I said, “No…, f*** you!” and screeched the tires as I sped off with her bag still on the floor on the passenger side.

Now I ask you…, was I wrong in how I handled the situation?  Should I have maintained my cool?  Was I not justified in asking her what was in the bag?

I don't know what I could have done differently in order to have reached a more positive outcome.

And by "positive outcome" you mean getting high off of what was in the bag correct?
