No doubt a boy. During the teenage years, girls are so difficult. They're so troublesome and emotional. I know that being a teen I really give my mom such a hard time. Girls can be mean, bitchy and snobby. Girls want clothes along with a lot of material things. Girls deal with such emotional problems such as their bodies, friends, boys, other girl drama. It's just a complete mess and I wouldn't want to deal with all of that trouble. I know that I'm raising hell in my house being a teen girl. All my mood swings are pretty horrible, and I have an attitude to my parents. I would hate that. I feel like boys are more simple. And I would train my son to be a complete gentleman. It'll also be easier because I feel like parents are naturally more protective and set more restrictions on girls. It would just be easier raising a boy to be honest. Side: boy
I'd rather have a boy. I'm speaking hypothetically, of course. I'm child-free by choice. Boys aren't an easier to raise than girls. Girls may be more emotional, but boys are physically exhausting. But a boy would get paid more than a girl. Plus, I wouldn't have to worry about periods or teen pregnancy. Not so much the last one, but the idea of pregnancy is terrifying for a nulliparous woman. It would be worse to see my own chil pregnant. With a boy, that will not happen. As for girls being more annoying, that's an inaccurate generalization (but aren't they all?). Out of me, my sister, and brother, he was the one to go through an "annoying phase". I went through an "angry phase". Atypical, I guess. Also, if I were forced to have a child, and it ended up being a boy, there would be less pressure for me to continue. We live in a man's world. Side: boy

When my ex told me she was pregnant a lot of people asked what i hope it to be. I said boy because its typical for a guy, but i secretly wanted a girl. Theyre so cute and sweet. I like buying her cute outfits and showing her off to relatives. Yea... i'm not too concerned about following social norms anymore, lifes too short. Side: girl

I could care less, but there isn't an option for it. Also when you say most Americans, i know the poll you are referring to. It was the one that polled a little over 1,000 Americans on what they would prefer, so obviously the other 300 million of us must feel the same way. Side: girl

I don't know why I always wanted a daughter. Maybe it's like my mother used to say "Boys are the mothers' and girls are the fathers' (this has to do with the level of cumplicity between them). I don't know if this has influenced me, I think not, but I could never really understand why (maybe I never gave it much thought). Side: girl

I wouldn't care either way. I have a daughter and my brother is the same age (do I need to explain...) She's better behaved. I also have a teenage brother and sister and my brother is much better behaved. So it does not have much reflection on the sex of a child which is the 'easiest' sex to care for. Side: girl
