Most Christians don't follow the bible correct

almost every Christian that I come across doesn't seem to know anything about the bible. Most Christians havent even opened a bible before. It's sad that people say they follow a religion, yet know nothing about it. i don't understand it. It's like if you went to a book club about Harry potter and said you liked the books, yet haven't even read it.

Of course most Christians don't follow the bible correctly. If you speak to most Christians, they will acknowledge this, and further assert that it is humanly impossible to follow the Bible perfectly.

I tend to agree, but for different reasons- While each book tends to be internally consistent for the most part, there are conflicting messages when different books in the bible are compared. As such, it is quite literally impossible to follow the entire Bible correctly. Each branch of Christianity has a different idea regarding which verses are to be taken literally, which are to be taken as metaphor, and which simply aren't applicable to them. This ranges from a handful of verses scattered here and there on one end, to completely disregarding the Old Testament and a notable chunk of the New Testament entirely; I don't recall the actual name of the denomination, but they are one of those who believe that the Old Testament is merely there for historical record and further considers Paul of Tarsus to be a false prophet, excluding the New Testament writings attributed to him from their consideration. If they printed their own Bibles I expect they'd be little more than a pamphlet...

I don't see how anyone can disregard the Old Testament and focus on the new. Jesus followed the Old Testament so why Christians just pass over it when it comes to the bible is beyond me

There are numerous reasons. There are portions of the old Testament that are fundamentally incompatible with portions of the New Testament; only by seeing the New as superceding the Old can both be observed, and it doesn't take much of a stretch beyond that to throw it out entirely- you'll see several people on this very site asserting differing views on the relevance of the Old Testament.

Beyond just the incompatibilities, there are others that are legitimately put off by some of the subject matter and messages in the Old Testament, and opt to disregard it for that reason.

There is even a crowd of people who identify as Christians, but treat the entire Bible as being metaphorical in nature. There are literally tens of thousands of denominations that call themselves Christian. Even within a given denomination there are differences between individual churches. Even within a given church, there are differences in opinion between members of the congregation.

The New Testament is more modern than the Old. All of the Old Testament is about, is the Creation of the Universe, the history of Israel, and the coming of the Messiah. That's all the Old Testament is about. Most Christians focus on the New because it talks about Jesus and also rules that Christians should follow, and it talks about the Second Coming of Christ.

The only thing that a Christians should disregard is the laws of Leviticus and Numbers because those apply to the Jews.

OF COURSE, we are humans the most we can do is be approximate to what god wants us to be.

Christians judge people which they arent suppose too.

There is even a haircut they must follow by and certainly not all abide to that.

Many americans don't follow the american law, many danes don't even speak proper danish, many singers sing out of tune and so on.

The definition of a christian is not a person who reads the bible, or a person who prays daily, or a person who goes to church every sunday. A christian is a person who believes in the christian God, and Jesus. That's all you gotta do.

Not speaking proper danish doesn't make you less of a dane in my opinion, it's the same with christians.

The definition of a Christian is "a person who adheres Christianity". Which means they would follow Christianity, in which Christianity goes by the bible. And most Christians don't follow it the way it should. They interpret how they want the religion to be, so technically these people can't even consider themselves christian

If you read the most famous and important verse in the bible, John 3;16, it says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

It doesn't say that whoever reads this bible, whoever prays everyday, or whoever follows all the christian values will have eternal life. No, it says whoever BELIEVES will have eternal life.

that's stupid.

If you don't follow the bible (and love and accept Christ) you're not a Christian. What you are probably seeing, if you are speaking of the differences in some Christians from others, is different denominations of Christianity, following different bibles. Or different parts from the same bible.
