Music in cars!

I find it easier to concentrate with louder music playing than a softer music. I am talking about volume not jazz or rap.

My hearing isn't great anymore so if I'm listening to anything it's probably louder than the majority of people would want it.

And the plus side of that is there usually isn't room for conversation as well. And if I'm only listening to music I'm driving more safely than if I'm driving and I'm engaged in full on conversation with someone in the car.

Side: Loud

I keep the radio loud when not in neighborhoods, it helps with the suppression of sounds from phones, people, and anything that could distract me. Although some of the music I listen to scare the hell out of me when a siren plays.

In general I can't stand loud music anymore. In cars I also tend to turn down the music if I'm concentrating on something like finding an address or business (I think a lot of people do this).

I use to listen to hard rock music (until that went to hell) and I would have to turn my radio down if I came upon a wreck or traffic to concentrate. One less distraction is good in those cases.

But when I worked 3rds and the traffic was pretty much dead at night, I would blast my radio all the way to work at around 10:30 PM.
