Nitrogen Asphyxiation: Why isn't it used for execution?

It is the most humane way of killing someone. You just fall asleep. Why isn't it used? Is it too humane for the USAians?

We don't use nitrogen asphyxiation so that hippies like you can always come back and claim that the punishment wasn't humane. If you actually used a humane method it would be one less argument against execution.

Hanging is pretty humane...

Perhaps people are more divided on whether there should be executions or not rather than what form of execution is the most moral.

Is it really within our knowledge what a humane way to kill someone is? We don't know what happens as we die, it's not possible to record what happens during dying and after death.

It is considered humane because it doesn't cause pain. We can measure brain waves and determine what causes pain. It should be possible.

But why is humane defined by what causes pain? If we consider killing to be inhumane in the first place, why are we discussing what way to kill is humane?

Because no country has made the move yet. They know it is painless if done correctly as the person falls unconscious most of the time - in order to have a valid estimate - you would need a practical to test what concentration of oxygen is still needed and take into account the other people who will be exposed in the procedure; requiring many calculations. Frankly, I don't think the money is being spent on the right things in imprisonment.

I dont know. I def support that method though cuz I oppose torture.

A very good point, Atrag. I agree. I oppose torture so I support your idea.

Although Atrag is correct, opposing torture is not logically equivalent to supporting his idea.

I agree. I am just talking about why I support his idea. .
