Obamacare

I'm not entirely sure why people are so against Obamacare. Is it perfect? No. Is it the first step towards nationalized healthcare? I think so. Does nationalized healthcare work? The UK, Sweden, Australia, and a dozen other countries say it does. But in the meantime, 96% of small businesses won't be forced to begin providing health care to employees since they don't have enough employees to be forced to do so, so they won't notice any real change. It is predicted that the ACA will allow 83% of those uninsured small business owners to be able to afford insurance. For people who have a limited amount of money, you get tax credits to offset the cost of health insurance. Care that is often limited or not included will be covered. Pre-existing conditions will no longer prevent someone from getting health insurance. Premiums have been dropping since ACA became the future. Students can stay on their parent's plan or go on an inexpensive plan through the college. In addition, this has already happened years ago, both in Oregon, and interestingly enough, in Massachusetts by Mitt Romney in 2006, where it has been declared a success by the majority of citizens. When a senator (Ted Cruz (R) of Texas) says his biggest objection to it is that people will love it so his party will never be able to kill it, I'm not quite sure what the problem is...  I'd like to hear both sides.

It is now 2015 and millions can now afford medical insurance thanks to ObamaCare.

Side: For Obamacare

Yes, and the states that have embraced it have a very high approval rating for it. I still don't think it's perfect, but it's working better than even I thought.

I'm not big on socialized healthcare. ObamaCare isn't going to improve the economy and it actually introduces like twenty new taxes. The majority of doctors are pretty worried about it and in certain states, a large percentage of doctors will no longer be able to accept Medicare patients. However, I can't say for certain that ObamaCare will be as devastating as the Republican party makes it out to be. I know that many people opposed Medicare when it was first being introduced and look how that turned out. So we're just going to have to wait and see...and hope for the best, because ObamaCare does have the possibility of being really shitty.

I saw an article where Ted Cruz told a reporter that he was trying to stop Obamacare because once it goes into effect, the people will love it and the Republican party will never be able to kill it. I don't see why doctors wouldn't be able to accept Medicare patients anymore - part of it is expanding the Medicare program and that part is already working. I do think it has the possibility to be really crappy, but it bugs me that people are dismissing it out of hand, because it could also be really great.

Oh yeah? I read an article that said Obama and many other key figures were exempt from ObamaCare. If this is true, then why are they trying to pass something that they don't want to be part of?

To be honest though, you can't really believe anything that a politician says, be it a liberal or a conservative. I doubt Ted Cruz actually said that. That sounds like some major liberal propaganda.

It's true that we don't really know what to expect with ObamaCare. We have a pretty good idea though and the pros and cons weigh differently depending on your position on the matter. Personally, I'm not for socialized healthcare and further expanding government control.

Doctors won't be able to accept certain Medicare patients... I'm not entirely sure why. It was just a quick article that I skimmed over. I do know that prescriptions will cost more for a lot of Medicare patients as a result of ObamaCare though.

Claim: You get to keep your doctor.

Reality: Doctors can't take all the patients they were taking before, some people can't keep their doctor.

Claim: You can keep your insurance.

Reality: Insurance providers need to change what they offer and can't keep the same policies for everyone, some people can't keep their insurance.

So, the claims of Obamacare are partially false.

Also, most people aren't employed by small businesses. The medium businesses are going to reduce their labor force to get down to the small business status. So, lots of people will lose jobs or go to part time.

To sum up all the things I don't like about Obamacare, It's very bad and I don't like it.

How can you say it's very bad? It's already dropped insurance premiums 4% and it's worked in both Oregon and Massachusetts where it was put into effect years ago by the governors. In Massachusetts, it has an 86% approval rating from the citizens, and that version is far more extreme than Obamacare. If you have health insurance, then this doesn't affect you a whole lot, and if you don't, then it lets you get the health insurance you need. I would think taking power from the insurance companies would be a good thing!

I am against Obama care for the following reasons:

1. Higher Taxes

2. Degraded healthcare

3. The lies about lower costs

4. The lies about better healthcare

5. The significant negative impact it will have on our economy
