I think economic connections is the most important. Without trade, Singapore wouldn't be where it is today. We still rely heavily on trade. Trade brought different nationalities of people to Singapore and that's why we are such a multicultural society.

2 points

yes this is good. Without trade Singapore wouldn't be able to survive as Singapore does not have enough natural resources to Survive on its own.

I think that economic connections are important but I think other connections are more important. Without the political and cultural connections, there would be no trade in the first place. Singapore would not be as successful a country as it is now

People used to come to Singapore to trade before Singapore had a government. But yes, political and cultural connections helped too.

1 point

Without money, we cannot trade and hence become what we are today. i agree with you

deborqhwong(11) Clarified

How does money come into play? People traded without money sometimes

5 points

I think that Economic connection is the most important for Singapore today. Trade is important as Singapore is a small country and certain things can only be obtained from other countries through trade, even most products we see in supermarkets or shops are from other countries such as China and Japan.

1 point

Without Economic connections, Singapore wouldn't be able to trade and have enough resources to survive.

1 point

Economic connections helped Singapore to trade and to obtain enough resources to make the country it is today. I agree.

I think it is political connection with other countries for trade and not economical connection

I think that Economic connections are important but Political and cultural connections are more important as without other connections, there would be no trade in the first place.

Tricia:

I think that Economic Connections is the most important for Singapore today as, without trade, Singapore will not be able to prosper into the metropolis it is today. Without trade, we will be helpless without any natural resources on our island.

1 point

I agree because money is the most important thing to have before trading with others

4 points

Political Connections. As Singapore survives on trade, we need to have good connections with other countries so that countries will continue to trade with us and provide us with the resources we need to sustain ourselves.

2 points

Yes. our lands are unsuitable for farming, and so is the weather.

So, except for vertical farming, Singapore cant get any food to support the people and have to trade with other countries for food.

Political connections also makes Singapore less vulnerable to attacks and war

1 point

I agree with you, as Singapore has very little natural resources so we have to obtain them through trade with other countries

4 points

I think the economic connection is the most important to Singapore πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¬. Without trade, Singapore would not be the successful nation we are now. We have very little natural resources and without trade, Singapore would still be a fishing village that would not be as famous.

However, it should be political connection. As only when the relationship between 2 countries is good, then both countries would want to trade with each other so I think that political connections would be more suitable.

I think the economic connection is the most important for Singapore today as, without the economy, Singapore wouldn't be as bustling as it is now. Economy has proven to be useful in the process of upgrading Singapore.

evan_lee(4) Clarified

How does the economy affect Singapore being bustling right now? How as it been useful to upgrading?

Economic connections also have attracted more tourists. I agree with you.

evan_lee(4) Clarified
1 point

How does Economy attract people? Does money attract tourist?

3 points

Economic connections is the most important as without money and trade, Singapore will not be this way, thriving as it is now.

2 points

I agree with you as, without economic connections, we wouldn't be able to do trading. Thus we won't be able to build Singapore as we don't have the money and resources.

1 point

I agree with you as the money and trade were what allowed us to upgrade and innovate into such an influential country.

Zer_Jynn(3) Disputed
1 point

Elaborate more about economic connections. You only said that it is important and makes the Singapore it is today .

1 point

I agree as without economic connections Singapore will not be recognised on the world stage with a high exchange rate that is higher than most of the neighbouring countries around us.

3 points

POLITICAL CONNECTION

I think that the political connection is the most important because it needs good relationships with other countries. Without these good relationships, Singapore would not be able to trade with other countries. For Singapore, it is necessary that we are able to trade with other countries as our land is infertile to grow any fruits or food. Thus, we need to trade with other countries to get food or other goods.

Assasinsam Disputed

Even without political connections, countries still need to go through the same route to get to their destination. So Singapore still will thrive even with political connections

3 points

economic connections, as without economic connections, Singapore will not be able to survive for there are very less natural resources. Singapore survives through trade, establishing a high position in the trade business, both in the past and present.

2 points

Economic Connections as Singapore is a country without much natural resources, hence if we did not have Economic connections, Singapore wouldn't be able to survive and People would starve and have lack of homes due to lack of resources.

2 points

I feel that the economic connections is the most important for Singapore. Singapore's soil is not suitable for farming, hence trading is especially important for Singapore to get crops and items.

2 points

Money is more important than connections with others as we need to have wealth before politics

2 points

Yes, you are right as Singapore's πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¬ soil is not fertile we can't depend on farming for our income and we need to have trade and other types of investments to help us remain as a first world 🌍 country

2 points

I think that political connections is the most important as it is very important that a country has a strong government and rules

MrKumar(4) Disputed

Economic connections are more important than politics as money can buy things and trade but politics is just like a friendship.

2 points

Joe Wong:

I find that political connections are most important for Singapore. We need to bond friendships between countries and forge stronger bonds so other countries can help us and we can have trades more easily.

2 points

that is a very good point. With stable relations, we can forge deeper trade relations and promote more trade collaborations between the citizens.

1 point

Agreed, we are a small country and rely on trade with other countries to survive

1 point

Political connections promote tourism for money, so yes i agree.

evan_lee(4) Disputed

The government only came when Singapore was successful in trade and hade good economy connections

2 points

Cultural connections. If Singapore did not have cultural connections, we would not be a unified country. If we were not a unified country, we would not have become the Singapore we are today. Cultural connections helped us become a first world country. We would not have good political connections and economic connections with others if we had racial riots all the time.

Joe Wong:

How would cultural connections affect Singapore's racial riots.

MrKumar(4) Disputed
1 point

Of course lah it would. If there weren't cultural connections people would be racist and there would be more riots.

2 points

I think that Political Connections is the most important for Singapore today of the 3 types of connections discussed as if there were no Political Connections, Singapore would not be where it is today and it would still be a small trading port.

Gelatoni(8) Clarified

Could you explain in what ways Singapore's Political Connections have helped her grow from a small trading port to where we are today?

ZheeBeeng(3) Clarified

Why would it be this way? Please elaborate on why it would not be a small trading port

Tan_Juston Clarified

It would not be a small trading port as with Political Connections with other countries, such as Malaysia, they supported Singapore and helped develop Her into a garden city

deborqhwong(11) Clarified
1 point

But Singapore wasn't a small trading port, there were palaces here a few centuries back. Please also be more specific.

2 points

political connections. Singapore is very vulnerable to war and should make friends with other governments. One A-bomb and the entire Singapore will be destroyed

stan701(67) Disputed
2 points

While I agree with you that Singapore is vulnerable to military conflicts, the risk of an A-bomb is low. Given our land size, anyone using an A-bomb will not just destroy our country, but neighbouring countries and the fishing industry as well!

2 points

I think all the connections are important, but Cultural Connections are the most important. If there is no culture, there will be no Political Connections in the country as there is no story behind a certain action, hence there will be no Economical Connections with the world because of no political rights that provide laws and the money.

stan701(67) Clarified
2 points

You have an interesting point but i'm not sure how Cultural Connection leads to Political Connection / Action. Could you elaborate?

Assasinsam Disputed
1 point

Culture is only for the recognition of Singapore, even without culture, Singapore will still be one of the most recognisable countries as we have a strong economy and we are located in the centre of the trade route.

evan_lee(4) Disputed
1 point

Without culture, there will be no relationships between different countries as there is no knowledge or things to trade with.

2 points

Economic connections. Without economic connections, Singapore would still struggle to survive because of poverty as it was just a trading centre and people in Singapore could not grow crops to feed themselves.

2 points

I think that economic connections are the most important as Singapore lives on trading with other countries as it has no natural resources. Without economic connections, Singapore would not have a culture to speak of due to the number of problems it would have to deal with first.

1 point

I think cultural connections is the most important for Singapore today. Singapore is identified because there are a lot of cultures here. Without our cultures Singapore wouldn't be like what Singapore is today.

goose(3) Disputed

But the many "cultures" of Singapore were not originally from Singapore and most people were attracted to Singapore due to the jobs available, not because of our culture.

it is not culture it is racial harmony, there are many races in Singapore not many cultures different races bring their different cultures.

Joel Hui:

Political Connections. Without it, Singapore wouldn't be such an influential country as our connections with other countries, such as Malaysia, helps us obtain water that we cannot obtain in great quantities by ourselves. It also boosted the amount of trade we had in the past, which attracted people from other countries to come to Singapore for work, thus resulting in Singapore becoming a multi-racial country.

MrKumar(4) Disputed
1 point

Without politics Singapore can still survive politics is not most important. In fact problems come because of politics

1 point

Political, Singapore is an independent nation and we need political relations and connections with other countries in order to maintain... order, and have good relationships with other countries which will lead to us having more trade with neighbouring countries.

1 point

I agree on the point you mentioned on having more trade with neighbouring countries with better relationships and connections with other countries.

1 point

I think that political connection is the most important because, Singapore survives on trade for its resources we have to have a good relationship with other countries for us to survive, such as , Malaysia we need Malaysia for our water resources.

1 point

The economic connection is the most important connection as Singapore lacks natural resources such as water and needs money to get these resources from other countries.

William-Ma(5) Disputed

i think that is supposed to be political not economics connection as we need to have a political connection with other countries, political relations.

You do know 1 dispute is enough... Much less 2 of them. I get your point.

1 point

Economics is at a higher priority than economical connections as it will make the country wealthier

1 point

All of these connections are equally important, each in their own respect. Only with all three connections functioning in synergy can a nation function on a whole. For example, political connections are essential for good and efficient trade, and safety and protection during wartime. Cultural connections are important for creating Singapore's identity as a whole, to make us be unified and identify our selves as Citizens of Singapore, rather than Malays, Chinese, Indians, and Caucasians living on the same island. Economic connections, much like political connections, are important for trade and resources. Without good economic connections with Malaysia, we would have insufficient drinking water. Without economic connections with chins, we would be incapable of receiving enough common goods and items. I understand that you seek the most important, but the truth is that all of them are needed for Singapore to function as a whole. They are all unique in their own ways, and this is why it is wrong to assume that one is more important than another without specifying what you mean by important. I believe this is an essential point.
