Welp, it's official, they tagged the guys who started up pirate bay. It's one of the most infamous torrenting sites on the high seas. They're to spend a year in Sweedish jail and pay a fine of Four point five million USA dollars.
... Is that a fair judgement? I mean, how in the hell are they going to afford that?

Well, sucks for him. But he stole and gave major opportunities for others to steal and give away shit. and he stole millions of dollars worth of crap. he needs to be punished. the amount he must pay? well, looks like he's in debt for life. i would have set a much lower amount, but this isn't some Limewire downloader, this is a major thief. Side: They deserve it

The Pirate Bay does nothing that cannot be done with Google. They hosted NO files themselves, that's the point of Bit Torrent. This decision is ridiculous and is in complete opposition to how the internet actually works. If big companies had their way you would never be able to communicate or send data to other internet users directly which is the entire purpose of the net. Side: This is wrong/too harsh.
Legally the four in charge of the Pirate Bay have done no wrong. They offered a file-sharing service which other people have used to commit piracy. It is these users who have commited a crime, not the four who should be punished. However, as it is not possible to arrest and prosecute all those who commit the actual crimes, the Pirate Bay crew are being punished and used to make a statement. Side: This is wrong/too harsh.
