Only open minded people are willing to debate.
After reading, watching & listening to hundreds of debates over hundred of subject i have come to the conclusion that only the open minded are willing to really debate (discuss the topic and make a desicsion on the outcome) and not just repeat the same mantras over and over again.

I think it's only the open minded that actually read and inwardly digest the subject matter of the debate as opposed to just the title. Considering you actually went to the trouble of defining what you meant by 'really debate', "discuss the topic and make a desicsion on the outcome", I find it curious that so many are willing to defend the narrow minded on the grounds that they will not change their minds in a debate. But just to participate in a debate? Not always. And I should know, too. However hard I try to stretch my myself away from my standard thoughts and misconceptions, I still try to hold onto them (if only because I hate being wrong.) And there are people still who only want to bring others to their side, without even considering perhaps changing their own perspective. Side: wrong

I agree with you completely most people are close minded, i used to consider myself very open minded but the fact is nobody like having to re-evaluate the way the view certain things, but still i think if you are prepared to engage with another person in a debate and take their arguments seriously you are less close minded than most out there who only seek reaffirmation in the views they already hold instead of challenging them.
