Well, if you are talking about environmental benefits of organic food it is nearly non-existent. Organic food produces far lower yield, feeding less people or using more land to produce the same amount of food due to inefficient farming methods. Because they don't use synthetic fertilizers they rely heavily on manure, which promotes pathogens that can leak into the water table, runoff into streams and puts greater reliance on cows. Cows produce methane (read: farting) which traps 10 times as much heat as Co2 emissions. Now include the fact that Organic food costs 45% to 200% more than conventionally raised food, and you have a great swindle of the consumer. Using a natural pesticide as opposed to a synthetic pesticide is not going make any difference, both are toxins. Reducing your overall pesticide usage however does have environmental benefits, but there are ways of doing this without using more land and driving up the prices by 45% to 200%. Integrated Pest Management is one such method. Otherwise you are paying more for no good reason. Side: Is Nonsense!

Organic food is based on the belief that a highly toxic chemical compound found in nature is better for you than a highly toxic chemical compound made in laboratory. The point is, rinse your fruits and vegetables before you eat them and save 40% on your grocery bill. Side: Is Nonsense!

While I agree it's very healthy for you, that doesn't make it any less stupid in many cases. I'd rather eat trans-fats then something with raw hallucinogenic mushroom. You know what's a better idea? Manufacture ingredients that don't kill you, organic or not. Side: Is Nonsense!
