Paul the False Apostle?

Okay. Recently I've had some issues with the "Apostle" Paul, AKA Saul of Tarsus. What do you guys think? COHERENT EVIDENCE FOR BOTH SIDES PLEASE.

This question is designed for theists. If you are atheist or agnostic and wish to participate, power to you, but please simply entertain theistic thoughts for the sake of the argument?

This was not an actual argument for Paul being a faker, but rather an exercise directed towards Christians in an attempt to inspire critical thought on the matter of Paul.

I have since created a separate debate for this exercise.

I don't even really need to say much. Link Posting should do.

I like the Yahoo answer especially, but the above links work if you have to thump the bible to have something make sense.

Seriously, think about this for a minute. Paul was a zealous, sadistic nutcase who worked diligently to destroy Christianity. Then he goes and converts. Suddenly he calls himself an apostle when NONE of the other ACTUAL apostles do this? He then tells HUGE contradictions that go against many things that Jesus said.

Private Prayer was Jesus' teaching. Paul made it into Public Prayer, which was condemned as exhibitionist. That's just one example.

And nowhere in the Gospels does it say that Jesus despised Homosexuality. That was all Paul's ranting. Also something about how women shouldn't be in positions of power? Maintain quietude?

In my opinion, Paul... excuse me, Saul of Tarsus, never changed. His goal was to destroy Christianity.

He succeeded.

Everything that is wrong with Christianity- can be traced to Saul/Paul the Self-Declared Apostle.

Jesus, I love you with everything I've got, and I love Christianity in it's purest form, but Saul #Rekt your sermons, bro.

-In reference to the hate and lack of tolerance that we see seeping from it.

"Then he goes and converts"

Yes. The blinding en route to Damascus. The blinding punishment was later rescinded and Paul swore to convert.

Old Habits Die Hard, I like to say.

I rather agree. Moreover, if God as described by Christianity is assumed to be true, then said assumption also includes the Devil. The Devil is also described as a deceiver, and false prophets were foretold as well. In several books of the bible, warnings regarding massive penalties for adding to, removing from, or changing the wording are included; if the bible was to be taken literally as the sacrosanct word of god, immune to corruption, such wordings would not be needed.

What better way to defeat the christian movement than by subverting it with deception and spreading the subverted message more quickly and over a larger area than the original unmodified message?

Supplying a false prophet, and deceiving those early Christians involved in the canon with such, is entirely in-line with the kind of behavior expected from the Devil.

And if we DON'T assume Christianity to be true, then he's more or less a false prophet by definition.

This is why I respect the majority of Atheists. They do their homework without bias.
