Planting trees and buying bamboo toothbrushes...

Is not sustainable!

Someone asked me recently why is cottagecore life not a sustainable solution to climate change

First I had to look up “cottagecore”. I do not understand young people language anymore. Please stop inventing weird words and stop using words you don’t understand.

Sustainable requires social justice.

Some Environmentalists profoundly annoy me with their tofu and their judgy new soap.

So, from what little I've just read on it, cottagecore is a romanticized version of homesteading. That would potentially mean that because it is putting rose colored glasses on the nitty gritty of homestead life, many people will try it but most will fail once they realize it's freaking HARD.

This definitely makes me want to throw my sandals at anyone who says cottagecore.

Hopefully they are hemp sandals. ;D

I do want to be clear, I really like the idea of homesteading and I fully support the practice and belief that people have when they have a clear understanding of it and try to live that life.

To me, cottagecore is like glamping (glam-camping). The main difference is that it's a lifestyle as opposed to temporary living. People will most likely try cottagecore because it seems almost magical but (and maybe I'm a cynic) once the reality of that lifestyle hits them I doubt they'll keep to it.
