Political correctness is authoritarianism under the guise of politeness.

Political correctness is authoritarianism under the guise of politeness. It's an elaborate form of lying used by people who try to devolve the conversation in their favour with no intellectual effort

Through the incessant repetition of mistruths the average mindless 'peon' is manipulated into accepting what the ruling elite want them to.

This is achieved stealthily by moving towards a predetermined agenda in carefully graduated steps until the sheepeople are all nice and safely corralled in cloud cuckoo land without knowing what happened to them.

Spot on Antrim , the sheeple lap this horseshit up and trip over themselves to worship the latest purveyor of the “ catchiest “ P C slogan so they can start parroting the self same horseshit

Thanks Dermot,

There's no doubt that there are many on this site who could be millionaires if they so decided to sell all the verbal fertilizer they spew out.

Free speech is an excuse to completely disregard politeness and call black people bongos, right?

Or "idiots" or a "doxy"...

It is a form of lying. When you can't say what is true, that is lying. Purposeful ommission is? Lying. Purposefully covering up or distorting facts is? Lying. It's also a form of cowardice used by some people to not have to face the objective truth.

Trump was found to have lied, or made misleading statements 24 times yesterday in his PC (press conference). It would be nice if he was PC in his PC ... at least once in a while!

If Obama is held to the same scrutiny and standard, it would be 25+, but of course the lib media did no "lie counter" on Obama, nor were his "unverifiables" unverafiables. On Mark Levin and Ben Shapiro's sites site they do past Obama speeches by the same standard and rules and find that he actually "lies" more than Trump when held to the same rules as to what is a "lie".

It is a form of lying. When you can't say what is true, that is lying.

Why are you pretending to have a moral problem with lying? You are hands down the biggest liar on a website saturated with absolute bullshitters. For three days you lied about snagging my IP address, until the site owner arrived to point out how and why you were lying, at which point you didn't say another word and vanished for four days.

Before that you pretended to be an American Native in order to give your white power bullshit more credibility, but when your claim was scrutinised it was discovered you were lying about that too. You were caught out when you claimed to live on an Indian reservation in a state in which there are no Indian reservations.

All you ever do is lie, so you've got SOME FRONT to be criticising lying as though you have some kind of moral problem with it.

You have 150 puppets and think that being "antifascist" means ignoring regimes and ideologies that force women to wear burkas and hijabs, and slaughter gays.

I've never disappeared for four days, which is common knowledge, so you are lying as we speak.

My CDIB card says "1/1".

Being from Oklahoma, there is a 0% chance that I am not Native American unless I'm an immigrant. If I'm an immigrant that makes you an even bigger dumbass.

but when your claim was scrutinised it was discovered you were lying about that too.

Actually, you claimed there were no Indian reservations in Oklahoma. I then posted a picture of the sign which read "Cherokee Indian Reservation" of which you had no rebuttal.

Political correctness did start out as a basic approach to civility, but it's generally become detached from that practice. Contemporary PC culture is an habituated practice of appealing to the alleged authority and legitimacy of a dictated socio-political narrative that obviates the need for discourse, and routinely castigates anyone who attempts to have that discourse. It is logically unsound and socially destructive.

1 point

You have a choice as to whether you WANT to be politically correct. You can't be locked up (legally) in a free country for NOT being politically correct. You CAN be in an authoritarian country. Our own President is RARELY PC! I would like to be a little more authoritarian with HIM, but, that wouldn't be politically correct .... would it??

Hello D:

Did political correctness evolve from being polite to being authoritarian??? If so, I missed it.. Or did the right wing make up what they THINK political correctness IS, and then make fun of it??

In unpolitically correct terms, that's called a straw man..

But, I'll indulge you in any case.. I see that you think PC is a form of lying about something by using certain words in PLACE of certain OTHER words.. I'm curious about which specific words does an authoritarian use, and what words did he replace...

If being PC is about something OTHER than words, I'd like to know what.. Is it a feeling?? Is it that you don't LIKE being polite to black people?? Do you think people who come DOWN on you for calling them names like belubas are being AUTHORITARIAN??

excon

PS> Ok, I'm ready for you to call me a name..

Ah I see you re - brand P C bullshit as “ being polite” it’s actually a form of censorship used to gag people from saying what they think to what people like you think they should say and think

Here are several examples of the nonsense I speak of ,

1. The BBC has dropped the use of the terms Before Christ (BC) and Anno Domini (AD) on one of their programmes and decided that the terms 'Before Common Era' / 'Common Era' are more appropriate

2. The European Parliament introduced proposals to outlaw titles stating marital status such as 'Miss' and 'Mrs' so as not to cause offence. It also meant that 'Madame' and 'Mademoiselle', 'Frau' and 'Fraulein' and 'Senora' and 'Senorita' would be banned.

3. Throughout several US councils and organisations, any terms using the word 'man' as a prefix or suffix have been ruled as not being politically correct. 'Manhole' is now referred to as a 'utility' or 'maintenance' hole.

4. Loveable cartoon rogue Dennis the Menace has been given a politically correct make over. BBC chiefs decided to take away his edge in the remake. Gone are his bombs, catapult, water pistol and pea shooter - and in their place is a simple boyish grin.

5. Spotted Dick - a classic English dessert has been renamed to avoid embarrassment. The traditional pud Spotted Dick has been given the title Spotted Richard, after UK council bosses feared the original name might cause offence.

6. A school in Seattle renamed its Easter eggs 'spring spheres' to avoid causing offence to people who did not celebrate Easter.

7. A UK council has banned the term 'brainstorming' – and replaced it with 'thought showers', as local lawmakers thought the term may offend epileptics.

8. A UK recruiter was stunned when her job advert for 'reliable' and 'hard-working' applicants was rejected by the job centre as it could be offensive to unreliable and lazy people.

9. Gillingham fans had begun to fondly offer celery to their goalkeeper, ‘Big Fat’ Jim Stannard. The club, however, decided that celery could result in health and safety issues inside the ground. As a result, fans were subjected to celery searches with the ultimate sanction for possession of celery allegedly being a life ban.’

10. In 2007, Santa Clauses in Sydney, Australia, were banned from saying 'Ho Ho Ho'. Their employer, the recruitment firm Westaff (that supplies hundreds of Santas across Australia), allegedly told all trainees that 'ho ho ho' could frighten children, and be derogatory to women. Why ? Because 'Ho Ho Ho' is too close to the American (not Australian, mind you) slang for prostitute.

11. Some US schools now have a 'holiday tree' every at Christmas, rather than a Christmas tree.

It’s great being “ polite “ isn’t it ?

I’ve no desire to call you a name obviously you have an axe to grind so please vent away 👌☺️

In fairness, I think this is less about political correctness and more about historical accuracy. There is no proof that Jesus Christ even existed, let alone that his life ushered in the "common era".

Thanks for giving concrete examples of what the Left is doing, so as to show the constant deception of people like Excon.

He brings up calling people vulgar names as the politcal correctness we are so against. He and the left does this to cover their true PC anti Christian motives with the censoring of words mentioning Christ.

1 point

The politically correct hold the idea that one should force others to not use words or spread ideas that might offend members of certain groups. These people attempt to shut down the free speech of others (often not even particularly objectionable speech!) by pressuring platforms and governments and/or through threats and violence.

An interesting part of political correctness is the "euphemism treadmill" whereby the euphemisms themselves become offensive and thus euphemisms for euphemisms must be constantly invented. One example of this is found in the word "retarded" which means "slowed" or "delayed". "Retardation" was a medical euphemism for moron, imbecile, idiot, cretin and other conditions (yes these were once medical terms) which had become commonly used as insults. Now we use "retard" as an insult and have replaced it as a medical term with "mentally handicapped" but interestingly I have already seen this term used to derogate others intelligence. In a number of years we will have to replace this term too.

Another example of the euphemism treadmill is the term "colored" which changed to "black" then "African American" and has recently come full circle with the present acceptable version "people of color". Note also that "people of color" is practically identical to the starting term "colored".

You and I completely agree on this issue.

What is so amazing to me is how you most times agree with the Left's ideology. You would help elect the very people pushing this political correct Big brother indoctrination.

I don’t support any political party I make my own mind up on various issues I was and remain a freethinker , I care not about my views being popular or liked but I feel I have the right to express them whether people like them or not .

Regards politics I see a similar pattern in politicians worldwide big promises and big talk as they all spout the same bullshit worldwide but are only interested in one thing ..... Power ... can you prove what I state is wrong ?

My own family members will often disagree with my views and I say l so what ? They are my strongly held views and I’m entitled to hold them as are you yours what’s so wrong with that ?

Who said there was anything wrong with your right to state your views?

I said it is very odd you would support an ideology that loves Political correctness.

You can deny supporting any Party, but from the many posts you make, I guarantee you more often vote for the Left and their arrogant PC lunacy.
