I actually agree with you that this is a stupid idea, because your country is saturated in guns and indoctrinated into the ideology of violence as a means to solve problems. However, in the UK, almost all regular police officers do not carry firearms for the simple reason that they don't need to. We have a sensible attitude toward guns and this keeps them out of the hands of the majority of criminals. Side: He's a dumbass
We are in basic agreement. It works fine in some places, but not American cities. These unarmed people will probably be fine because they are not officers, so they have no arrest authority. That means people will see them as annoying more than as a threat. Give them arrest authority without a gun, and they’ll get killed. Side: He's a dumbass
