well of course us Christians know you are quoting from the first Chapter in Paul's Letter to the Romans. which happens to be probly my favorite letter of his, along with 1st Corinthians and Galatians. but he was not talking to atheists. he was talking to Christians who were Believers in God, but were backsliding, as we all do. they were forgetting their place. and who to worship, and what was important. this is not a quote to use to mock atheists. it will drive them away, anyway. I was an angry atheist for many years till I was saved. I bet I did more evil than any three people on this website added together! and like Paul when he was Saul, I also persecuted Christians. Well, I'm wise enough not to anoint myself a "Saint". I THINK I'm wise enough to NOT believe what's written in books .... unless there is SOME proof to go with it. Gravity is a theory, with LOTS of rationally acceptable facts to go with it. The speed of sound is a theory with facts to substantiate it. This "GOD thing" has absolutely NO substantiated facts to back it up, just "stories" and predictions. I can't agree that it is "wise" to believe in an UN-substantiated theory ... maybe that's just me ... and the Rabbi that said: "Do not consider it a proof just because it is written in books, for a liar who will deceive with his tongue will not hesitate to do the same with his pen." Maimondese (Constantine, King James, Mohammad, etc.) I'm sure they meant well, after all, control of the masses IS important if you want to be a monarch. It's never "wise" to disagree with a man, or woman, who's word is LAW. Side: they are wise
It's not that I think I am wise. It's that I'm certain you're an idiot. You have one play book, it's thousands of years old, it's been called into question many valid ways, and it's interpreted by the majority of Christians across the globe in a far less exclusionary and limited way than you interpret it, and you keep thumping it and saying everyone else is the fool. You've become kind of like the Golem in Lord of the Rings. The only difference is he didn't want to share his precious whereas you want to pin us to the ground and shove it down our throats. I'm referring to true wisdom which begins with fearing God. If you don't fear God, anything you think is wisdom is vanity, futile. If you say there is no God, you are a fool. The guy states that evolution fails the first law of thermodynamics because LIFE doesn't follow the first law of thermodynamics, not evolution. And, again he dismisses one theory because he doesn't like a completely different theory. If someone dismissed plate tectonics because they didn't believe in heliocentrism, you would call that person crazy. Side: they are wise
1. Why is he talking about the origin of the universe when he is trying to debunk evolution? Even if God did create the universe, that does not refute ANY of the evidence for Evolution by Natural Selection. 2. First Law of Thermodynamics: a: Correct. Therefore the energy was NOT created in the Big Bang. It was always there. You all insist that something had to always be there, but whenever we posit an alternative to God, you get all flustered. b: Due to lack of space-time, forces and constants, most natural laws break down at the beginning of the Big Bang. The just didn't exist yet. I'm not convinced that would happen to 1st Law of Thermo, because I believe it is intrinsic to energy. But it is still possible that this would break down as well, rendering the 1st law null and void until a moment later. 3. "To believe in evolution you need to go back to Big Bang Theory. NO. YOU. DON'T. One started around 10 BILLION years after the other. 4. Steady-state and second law...sure, he's right there, but few people follow the steady-state model anymore. And it still has nothing to do with evolution. Side: they are wise
You are tying to exclude God from reality ignoring the fact that He is good and being good to you. There is no reason to believe God is not there uncaused if you can believe the universe was always there in one form or another uncaused. You are trying to replace God with the universe, and in so doing trying to make yourself God. It's not going to work, and you need to realize all you are doing is asking for a reality void of anything that shows God is good to you, and that reality is in the Lake of Fire and you are going to get it if you don't quit asking for it because God is good and will give you what you really want. You really want reality to be void of God, so God will give you that reality in Hell if you won't stop being an idiot and asking for it. Side: they are fools
