You will notice that the entirety of shit nations in any metric (literally any metric at all) are always right-wing with corrupt governments and Conservative social values. In the middle you do have very Conservative societies, with more sophisticated corruption. So, while the bottom of every list has right-wing shitholes, not all nations on the top of all categories are left-wing or progressive. After all, North Korea, Venezuela and China are left-wing shitholes but all three are blatantly not Progressive. Progressive refers very specifically to the society of all the nations who overall on all indexes put together thwart the competition. Human Development Index is the most blatant cross-sectional ranking where you see how utterly undeniable the superior of strategising society in a fair way is. Side: Progressives.

It means to ensure that every person in the nation can progress out of their situation with hard work and care for all other beings. The opposite is a society that believes that you simply owe it to your nation to work hard and should worry more about being loyal to your family and nation than to the world and living beings as a whole. That's the fundamental difference and line in the sand between the two. Side: Progressives.
