George Carlin said it best when he quipped " Why is it illegal to pay for something that is perfectly legal to get for free?" I know this is a controversial topic and that is what makes great debate fodder. Lets hear where you stand and why!

It is legal to have sex with another consenting adult. It is legal to receive money from or give money to another consenting adult. But if these two things occur in a way that makes it seem like one caused the other, it becomes illegal. I think putting regulations on consensual sex between adults is foolish. Side: yes it should
Prohibition only drives prostitution underground. If it is legalized then we can monitor and control the spread of STDs by requiring routine exams and we can protect the women from abusive customers by providing safe environments. Furthermore we can tax it to create revenue that will go towards bringing down our deficit. Not to mention it will reduce the burden on police agencies saving the tax payer money. Side: yes it should
I heard this conservative point of view bantered about in Nevada.If you really support this point of view how does a conservative explian it to their 9 year old daughter? You want her to save her virginity till she gets married but,it's OK to grow up to be a prostitute.Your really confusing your kids. Side: No way!

Unfortunately I think what a number of people fail to understand is just because something isn't illegal doesn't mean the activity is condoned. Becoming a stripper is entirely legal, but I wouldn't want any child of mine to become one. The problem is when voters believe they can use law to prohibit activities for which they personally disagree with. I can distinguish activities which I personally disagree with and activities which violate the rights of others. Prostitution as an agreement between two consenting adults does not harm others, and does not violate anybody's rights and therefore should not be illegal in the first place. Side: yes it should

i agree with him and I am a liberal! I posted the debate. I want my daughter to grow up and have sex when she is an ADULT. it is silly in todays day and age to expect sex only after marriage. If my daughter wanted to be a legal prostitute fine. She would be an adult and i would hope i taught her well enough to be smart and do it safely! Side: yes it should

By the conservative point of views for prostitution no wonder why so many conservative voters are willing to support and re-elect so many politicians caught in sex scandals.Are they getting away from the morals,ethics,and values that they promoted in the Newt Gingrich 1990's? Side: No way!

LOL to newt gingrich. That man should nOT teach about morals or family values. He left his wife with the kids and divorce papers while she laying dying with cancer in the hospital to run off with the mistress. Whom btw he also cheated on and ran off with the mistress on and then repeated one more time. So just because one preaches about morality and "Family Values" does not mean they practice it! Side: yes it should
