Religious People... This the best you got?

This may be my first religious debate in a while (if I ever even made one), but I notice something about how religious people like to attack Atheists... all the fuckin time...

"Atheists say that there is no God but can't prove it."

Now, people have told these people over and over again that Atheism isn't the claim that there is no God, it is merely the disbelief in a God.  There are millions of claims that we ignore just because no evidence has been provided.  And, of course, the whole thing about BURDEN OF PROOF... and yes, that is FUCKIN' REAL when it comes to debates.

So really, every single god damn time you folks say "yeah, well, I don't have to provide evidence that God exists because you don't have evidence that he doesn't" remember that you are committing a fallacy.  As well, for Atheists, the lack of evidence on the person who has the burden of proof (in this case, the person who claims that God exists) is already evidence for an Atheist.  It is not PROOF, it is evidence.

But really, is this all you people got?  I know I try not to attack the religious that much (and I used to defend them back when most of the Atheists on this site were Liberal douche-bags who didn't know what they were talking about... like Bill Maher), but every single time I see this argument I feel that you guys are really trying to cling on to this one shitty, fallacious statement, no matter how much we show you how bad of an argument it truly is.

So if you guys want to get serious, please stop being a bunch of big babies and realize that Atheists do not have the burden of proof.

I don't usually attack atheist people. More like atheist people attack me when I put something about God or about the Bible. I gave a lot of people evidence that there was a God but they choose to refute and not believe in such bias sources such as the Bible which says that the disciples were eyewitnesses and saw Jesus plus 500 other people who saw Him after the ressurection. Also if Jesus didn't rose from the grave my faith would be useless and my belief would be useless. We would still be a slave to sin and there would be no way to free us from sin.

You appealed to consequences there, and this isn't an ethical debate.

Also, the bible is a dubious source. Surly there are other sources you can reference?

And any rational person will see that your "evidence" are illogical to believe.

and not believe in such bias sources such as the Bible

No one rational will believe in biased sources.

There is something else you may wish to consider: During the Roman persecution of Christianity Christians chose to go to martyrs deaths rather than renounce their faith. They choose to die for what they knew was right, not for a sincere belief that they could be wrong about.

I believe in God because I have faith in him! I see him everyday and I can feel his presence! That's all the evidence I need! (/svadms)

You do realize that faith isn't evidence though ?

Oops, typo- the word at the end was supposed to be "(/sarcasm)"

I'm surprised I even got up votes for an argument that was intended to be horribly crappy in many ways. O.o

Okay... It is true that quite lame it is to claim a certain things which people rather fail to prove. The answer is quite simple no body knows. An Atheist cannot guarantee there isn't a God. A theist can't prove that there is one. Because no one is aware of what the truth of the ultimate end would be or is. The only people who know if there is a God are those who are dead. So everyone should really wait and see what it turns out to be. That would be a good option.

I'm not disputing what you say, you have a point. But I would like to point out that atheists are constantly attacking religious folks, particularly Christians. All I ever hear, on the TV, from friends, on the internet, etc, is that Christians are completely out of their-minds insane; that they're impossible fools who have their heads up their asses. They are treated as nothing but mindless pariahs at whom to laugh constantly.

Of course, this isn't true with all atheists, but it is true with a great deal of them, particularly ones who ask "this the best you got?" in that pathetic, rude, faux-casual tone.

Christians are not the victims, ostracizing atheists for pointing out what is often the truth is like blaming blacks for calling whites white-devils during the civil rights era. Sure, the severity of the situation isn't so extreme, but there is certainly a parallel.

That's all fine and dandy, but you're not addressing the issue I brought up; the constant claim of "There is no proof that God doesn't exist" and "Atheists claim that there is no God".

Both are terrible arguments for the reasons stated in my description.

The same can be said of how Christians, and indeed religious people in general, have treated non-believers in history, from the poisoning of Socrates to the persecution of Galileo and today where religious fanatics, even Christian extremists, use violence to terrorise and kill "non-believers".

But then again, let's think about it. Christians believe that man was made from mud and woman from a rib. They also believe that Noah, a man who lived till over 900 years old in a time where germ theory was unknown and arguably no idea of what sanitation means, built an ark which housed at least over 10 million species of animals, including lions and tigers, which he must have kept separate from the deers and elks, all the while excluding from his big cruise ship dinosaurs. More importantly, they believe that the female birth canal is a one way street, treating women with zero respect and dignity, allowing Jesus to be born of a virgin. And while Jesus was alive, he did magic tricks like turning water into wine, feeding thousands with a basket of two fish (presumably large fish like the one that ate Joanna and then spit him out), healed a man of leprosy and another of blindness, took long romantic walks on the water while on a fishing trip with the guys and then resurrected from the dead. And I haven't even got through 10% of all the bullshit in the Bible yet. Tell me how anyone would be in the right frame of mind if he/she believed in such nonsense?

Of coarse this isn't the best argument, but neither is claim there is no proof. No proof can account for many things. What makes one excel in a certain area, passion.

Definition of PASSION:

1often capitalized a: the sufferings of Christ between the night of the Last Supper and his death b: an oratorio based on a gospel narrative of the Passion

2 obsolete: suffering

3: the state or capacity of being acted on by external agents or forces

4a (1): emotion (2)plural: the emotions as distinguished from reason b: intense, driving, or overmastering feeling or conviction c: an outbreak of anger

5a: ardent affection, love b: a strong liking or desire for or devotion to some activity, object, or concept c: sexual desire d: an object of desire or deep interest

Do you believe that some one has a passion for playing music, painting, driving, etc.?

Please show me proof that passion exists. Some people have a passion for God as well.
