SAT, Anyone?

I'm thinking of taking it to accompany friends, but I'm curious; has anyone taken it on this site? The info we get at school is pretty much zero, and you only hear stories and opinions indirectly. Is it even all that accurate? (The 'math' section is rather lacking, so I'm guessing no.) What scores would you aim for for college? etc. AND YES, I know there are millions of forums out there on this topic, and believe me, I have had a look. No site's members can match the lucidity of CD's though (   ;)   ), so that's why I'm here.

Although I didn't take the SAT, I took the ACT, so as for the math section, if math is not your strongest subject, then you may struggle otherwise, it will be pretty easy. But I can't compare the two tests considering I only took one of them.

I took the SAT. I don't remember what my scores were nor do I know what's a good score or not, though it's constantly changing anyway.

The math part was interesting because it's a bubble sheet but there's parts you can write out the answer. I don't like math though and while I did good enough for college I know I didn't score impressively either.

The reading, on the other hand, I did very well in, it's just reading passages and things like that and answering questions about it.

Then there's the essay part too. Which, depending on the prompt, can be easy or difficult.

I've never heard of anyone doing poorly on their SATs then suddenly losing scholarships or grants they otherwise qualified for. Basically from what I've seen, if you do really good you have more opportunity, if you do poorly they chalk it up to nerves (apparently people get nervous taking it) and pay more attention to your academic record. For me, my GPA was low A's; okay but not scholarship material. My SAT's basically won me a full ride and I almost didn't take them, so I'd say definitely go for it.

non-American Soo, it's really a no-lose situation?? Cool. Thanks!
