School uniform is an essential part of school life. School uniform should not be banned, because of money. Our economic circumstances can have great affect, and more often than not, those with less money and therefore less desirable clothes are frequently subjected to various forms of prejudice and discrimination, exclusion and even ostracism, especially in schools. Wearing less expensive less fashionable clothes, different clothing from everyone else creates division, which school uniform can avoid. To be set apart and look different, in any way from everybody else almost certainly makes people targets for bullying, especially in schools. Young children who do not know the effect of bullying will always pick on the child who does not look the same Also, because school uniform allows you to easily identify someone as a student of a specific school, if someone from another school physically or verbally abuses someone or done something bad, they are able to take the situation into your own hands and find the school they are from, and contact Principal of the school and inform them of their students behaviour. Anther reason is that in a school excursion if the student get lost the method of identification would we easy because everyone with the school uniform is from the same school and their uniform would guarantee they could be easily to find for a adult or police. Dude what the heck! we should ttly not hab skol uniforms in school. teachers tell us when writing a paper be UNIQUE, think out side the box, what in the world is the unique thing about uniform? what happened to a every one looking the same= a boring world! be unique banned uniforms from school. I abosulutly agree with this argument because it would save more time , parents/parent don't have to as much ironing or go out to the shops to get BRAND NEW CLOTHES simply because children are getting bullied at school because oif what they wear. For example say if a child was on a school trip and they could easily get lost someone [who works there] could find them and by just looking at hte childs uniform he/she could recognise which school he/she was from and surely all school's have a logo on their jumpers Side: ABSOLEUTLY NOT!

It should be up to the school. If it costs extra money for the uniforms and they can afford what the hell, why not. Although, that money could spent elsewhere on classroom or school supplies if it cuts down on the amount of neglect and segregation between kids,go for it. Side: ABSOLEUTLY NOT!
I'm not entirely sure what to say. School uniforms, to me, are as equivalent as military uniforms. They want everyone to dress the same because they're united as one, in a sense. Everyone is to follow the same rules, do the same crap, so that all the focus is on the more important stuff at hand and not several individuals who are trying to stand out. But really, to think about it, look at it this way... to be dressed the same as your peers, it would take someone of truly pure and different character to stand out from the others without needing to do it by their clothing. In the military, those guys are the ones that get promoted up the ladders, in school, it's those that don't lower themselves to be a follow, but to be a leader. So, really, who gives a crap if kids are whining about school uniforms? I don't hear the military whining. Maybe these kids should quit thinking materialism is the way of life. Side: ABSOLEUTLY NOT!
First off, learn to spell. Now to the point. I went to a private high school and we had to wear shirt and tie every day. Now I will admit that it was annoying at some times, but looking back on it, I honestly liked having a uniform. I didn't have to worry about what I was going to wear the next day and everybody was basically the same. I specifically remember how different it was from middle school. In middle school I would have to worry about wearing cool clothes in case some stupid bimbo girl called me out for having dumb clothes. No kid needs that. Uniforms help curb cliques, although cliques will always be there unfortunately. -_- Side: ABSOLEUTLY NOT!
SCHOOL IS FOR EDUCATION. I don't see how being "fashionably appealing" at school, is helping at all. A distraction to students is possible. Creating different social groups just by looks is possible. well in interciy schools it provents(or limits) the way gangs can show who they are by wereing certian colors etc. and since they cannot easaly show who they are it HELPS prevent violence between rival gangs. i think that in theright situation school uniforms are a great tool to limit gang violence but n others just overreactive school board member s who think that if students are allowed to express themselvees there will be some level of anarchy at the schools?!?!? i slide both ways on this please if you disagree with me tell me why. Many children and some parents believe that school uniform should be banned because they are too expensive and that they should wear their favourite clothes but this not actually what school uniform all about. I, and so do many other parents and children, believe that school uniform should not be banned because children look smart in uniform, reduces costly ‘fashion show’ competitions and also saves parents’ time from choosing which clothes their child should wear. This is because children look the same in school uniform; uniform does not cause bullying and saves our parents’ money. School uniform also represents the school, gives the school a good name around the country and also saves parents’ time from choosing which clothes their child should wear. Therefore, I personally believe that children should continue to wear school uniform. Side: ABSOLEUTLY NOT!

I wore them for grades 1-5 at a Catholic school. They were good in some ways, but they still don't remove all issues. Yes, we did not worry about what the other kids wore, but we then worried about the shoes, bookbags, and jewelry. So kids will always find some thing to pick on other kids for. This choice for uniforms should be made on a school by school basis. Side: ABSOLEUTLY NOT!
I beg to differ that there are no social, financial, or psychological arguments to support school uniforms. From http://muse.widener.edu/~egrozyck/ The biggest deterrent to a healthy school climate may be the lack of discipline and respect. The absence of a well-disciplined student body is a major problem in many school districts (Curriculum Review, 1994.) This is true in suburbs as well as cities. Too many students are preoccupied with how they look and what they wear, rather than their studies. Schools have become a stage for the latest fashion parade, deflecting away the attention from learning and achieving educational goals (LaPoint, 1993.) School uniforms can create a sense of togetherness in a school building. This sense of togetherness can convey to the tax-paying public that schools are well managed because the students are under control due to their dress (Peters, 1996.) There is more of a socio-economic balance among the students with the wearing of uniforms. Students who attempt to make fashion statements through the wearing of designer clothing are virtually neutralized. School spirit is enhanced because a feeling of togetherness is created. The gap between the "haves" and the "have-nots" is narrowed due to uniforms (LaPoint, 1993.) Uniforms create social harmony due to the uniform look of similarly clothed students (Kaiser, 1985.) Proponents of school uniforms claim that school safety would be improved through a mandatory uniform policy. Gang type clothing would be eliminated. Crimes such as theft of expensive clothing or footwear would be substantially reduced (McDaniel, 1996.) Intruders in school buildings could easily be spotted if all the students were wearing a similar style of dress (Forbes, 1994.). Supporters of uniforms contend that the wearing of school uniforms affects students’ perception of school climate. Students feel as though they are part of a team, and according to Keith King of the University of Cincinnati, "The number one protective factor against school violence is having students feel connected to their school and that they fit in." (Wingert, 1999.) Student respect for teachers, administrators, and especially for each other would be improved with the institution of a mandatory uniform dress code. The sense of togetherness that a uniform policy would instill in a school can not be overstated. If students were all dressed in a similar fashion, the "playing field would be leveled." Each and every student would be similar. The students would spend more time concentrating on their school work, rather than on what their friends or they are wearing. There would be less ridicule of students due to their inability to dress in a style acceptable to the "in-crowd" (Manual on School Uniforms, 2000.) With the high cost of clothing today, school uniforms can lift a financial burden from students’ families. The cost of designer clothing, and especially footwear, is expensive (Timely Tips: School Uniforms Debate, 2000.) School uniforms can be purchased at one-third the cost of most school outfits that are purchased in department stores. Three school uniforms can be purchased for under a hundred dollars. School uniforms would assist students and parents in other ways. Students would learn to appreciate the elimination of so many choices when getting dressed for a school day. Students would not be tardy for school as often because of the indecision about what to wear in the mornings (Showalter, 1997.) Parents would know that what a student puts on in the morning is what they would wear at school. Students sometimes change to other outfits once their parents leave for work. Uniforms promote a "down to business" atmosphere because kids view them as work clothes rather than play clothes. Therefore, they take school more seriously than before the uniform code was instituted (Kaiser, 1985.) At the very minimum, schools should address the issue of a dress code. It is not necessary for the code to be rigid. But it is necessary for the dress code to be reasonable and fair. The best interests of students and their welfare should be addressed. There is no magical solution to the stopping of school violence and the improvement of discipline. Much of this answer lies in the chemistry that exists in a school between students and staff. Uniforms might appear to the public as the cure-all for a schools’ ills, but the ultimate decision on behavioral change is made by the children themselves. From http://www.buzzle.com/articles/ 1. A school uniform makes it easier for the school authorities to recognize students belonging to their school. It also makes it somewhat tougher for those that don’t belong to slip in; unless, of course, they go to all the trouble of buying a uniform that fits. 2. A school uniform also saves the school administrators from having to police what the students wear. There are no daily battles regarding what’s appropriate or not for school. 3. A school uniform apparently also saves students from putting their fashion tastes before their learning requirements. When they don’t have to spend time wondering what to wear and how to make a fashion statement, they can devote more time to getting an education. Theoretically, that is. 4. Wearing the same type of dress reduces social snobbery and peer pressure in educational institutions. It is also supposed to reduce incidents of bullying and theft. How do you pick on someone for wearing the same dress as yourself? Why would you steal a pair of shoes you both have and can afford? I suppose there are ways and there are reasons, but fewer. 5. School uniforms cramp the style of gang members. They have to recognize each other by names and faces instead of by flaunting aggressively painted jackets, T-shirts with obscene messages, clunky jewelry, and things like that. Instead of ‘my gang’ and ‘your gang’, they also have to think in terms of ‘our school’. It’s a hard life. On the brighter side, it helps them to live another day and go on to survive in college. 6. A school uniform can instill a sense of discipline and community feeling. This naturally reduces incidents of violence. Students can come to school without worrying about personal safety. Teachers don’t have to double as guards, and can concentrate on teaching. Other resources: http://www.edu-cyberpg.com/Teachers/ http://712educators.about.com/cs/ Side: Study to support uniforms

1) Uniforms won't make much of a difference with getting ready in the morning. I'm pretty sure MANY people plan what to wear the night before so they don't have to do it in the morning. 2)Cultivate Diversity? Really? You're not a kid now, but I am. Every student wears THEIR clothes and accessories to show of WHO THEY ARE, not who they are not. With Uniforms, they can't show off who they are. I'm glad I'm me, not who the schools want me to be. Oh, and btw, Many students disagree with uniforms, and just won't wear them. the principals make those students sit in the office all day, so the students aren't getting a proper education just because they have the right to express themselves. There are many benefits for school to have uniforms for their students, and one of them is the standardization of the dress code across the student population. With uniforms, all students will look alike, and as such, there all be no reason for the students to even compare who is better dressed, and who is putting on branded apparel etc. Imagine a scenario where students are allowed to wear anything they want to school. Not only will some pupils be outrageously dressed, the entire school will be obsessed about how they look rather than concentrating on why they are in school in the first place - learning. School uniforms will eradicate such a problem. Side: ABSOLEUTLY NOT!

It might save time for the kids in the morning when they get dressed, but does it really save money? Kids are going to want to have their "play" and "going out clothes" too. So not only will you be buying the clothes every other parent buys for their child, but you'll also have to buy enough copies of the uniform for the kid to wear to school every day. Side: YES!YES! Uniforms shouldn't be banned for the following reasons: Competition of clothing can cause problems such as bullying. Australia is trying to lower the level of bullies. Having all the same clothes will play a big part in that. If you are poor then you will be pointed out as poor if you wear different clothes. People cannot point that out if you also wear the same clothes. Everyone outside the school will be able to see you as a school child. It also means that you are united in some way like the army. My elementary and middle schools both required uniforms. You may not want to accept this, but it really leveled the playing field for us kids. Especially in middle school. There was no worry about brands, cost, etc. Sure you could buy a $30 white polo, but it wouldn't matter because someone paid $5 for the same thing and they were identical. The public school system in my area was considering requiring uniforms because they saw the difference in how private school uniformed kids were acting in school while having to wear the white polo and navy blue slacks. I also feel that the uniform is a form of structure. Kids will never admit this, but they WANT structure. They NEED it and they know they need it. Let's be honest, there's less violence in private schools, and I feel that the uniform really contributes to that. Side: ABSOLEUTLY NOT!
We should have uniforms Yes ,i believe so . I think school uniforms are good 4 students .Uniforms work to diminish economic and social barriers between students. With everyone wearing the same clothes it isn't an issue.also ,for so who says ''Children wont be able to express themselves.'' They have weekends and breaks to wear whatever they want.Indeed it creates more unity and equality amongst students.School uniforms will not eliminate a lot of distraction in the class. The teacher is being disrespected, and is not getting the undivided attention that he or she deserves. Thus, it is important for school uniforms to be compulsory instead of being banned Side: ABSOLEUTLY NOT!
Cry me a river, ungrateful brats. You owe gratitude to the poor bastards who are actually willing to educate you. So you have to wear a uniform. I supercalifragilisticexpialidociously strongly absolutely definitely truly speaking abut this 'fashion show' schools are fighting each other, plus ugliness --> depression --> suicide --> teacher losing money --> poverty. How would you like it, teachers, to be very lucky and lose some students? That would be bad. We have different DNA and bullying is just 'abstract.' School uniform is an essential part of school life. NO,IF SCHOOL UNIFORMS BANNED IT DOES NOT SHOW RESPECT TO OUR SCHOOL BECAUSE UNIFORM IS THE ONLY THING THAT GIVES RESPECT TO OUR SCHOOL I think this because although I agree that non-uniform clothing gives students a chance to express themselves, I think that uniforms makes students feel like they are part of the school, and that they should be proud to belong to the school. Students wouldn't be discriminated because of the clothes they wear. Uniforms help pupils get into the correct, working state of mind, and it gives a good impression of the school. I believe that school uniforms should be more widely used and not banned because it creates equality among children and takes away the status quo. By removing labels from clothing more than just the problem of inequality is prevented. It also solves many instances of bullying, parental stress, and childhood depression for starters. I believe all children deserve acceptance, and with school uniforms it gives them an advantage. Why take this advantage away? If you were to wake up every morning and sit there for half an hour trying to decide which of your clothes would be best to wear in order to impress others at school, you would surely have to skip breakfast every morning. Then imagine you went to school and found that others thought your shirt was lame. You would be bullied and discriminated against for what you wear. Also if you went on an excursion and happened to lose your class in a crowded area, I would wish you good luck trying to get help to find them again. Now I understand some of you believe that having no uniforms would give the children the ability to express themselves. But how is this necessary at school? They don't need to express themselves to other students or teachers during school. They can express themselves among their friends out of school, when they aren't required to wear a uniform. Everyone would be wearing the same uniform, making them all feel a part of something, the school. They should be proud of this. Some of you argue that uniforms are bland and boring, but they are made to be formal and simple, like a suit, in order to represent the school positively. P.S. I am in class right now, sitting in a school uniform on the iPad the school has provided me with. I am a grade 9 student and wrote this on the spot. With uniforms, all students are equal no matter what their background is. Plus, they don't have to waste time to choose what are they going to wear every morning before going to school. In Long Beach, CA, after two years of a district-wide K-8 mandatory uniform policy, reports of assault and battery in the district's schools decreased by 34%, assault with a deadly weapon dropped by 50%, fighting incidents went down by 51%, sex offenses were cut by 74%, robbery dropped by 65%, possession of weapons (or weapon "look-alikes") decreased by 52%, possession of drugs went down by 69%, and vandalism was lowered by 18%. [64] A 2012 peer-reviewed study found that one year after Sparks Middle School in Nevada instituted a uniform policy, school police data showed a 63% drop in police log reports, and decreases were also noted in gang activity, student fights, graffiti, property damage, and battery. [25] A 2010 peer-reviewed study found that schools with uniform policies had 12% fewer firearm-related incidents and 15% fewer drug-related incidents than schools without uniforms. [69] A 2007 peer-reviewed study found that, in schools with historically higher rates of sexual violence, sexual attacks were less likely if uniform policies were in place. [26] School uniforms also prevent students from concealing weapons under baggy clothing, [38] make it easier to keep track of students on field trips, and make intruders on campus more visible. Frank Quatrone, superintendent in the Lodi district of New Jersey, stated in Feb. 2011 that "When you have students dressed alike, you make them safer. If someone were to come into a building, the intruder could easily be recognized." [6] Side: ABSOLEUTLY NOT!

It should not be banned because of three reasons: 1: to avoid the downfall of the specific school's reputation. 2: to avoid the wiping off of the specific school's identity. 3: to avoid other school's, children and parents think about the school. [25] A 2010 peer-reviewed study found that schools with uniform policies had 12% fewer firearm-related incidents and 15% fewer drug-related incidents than schools without uniforms. I think this because although I agree that non-uniform clothing gives students a chance to express themselves, I think that uniforms makes students feel like they are part of the school, and that they should be proud to belong to the school. Students wouldn't be discriminated because of the clothes they wear. Uniforms help pupils get into the correct, working state of mind, and it gives a good impression of the school. P.S. If you were to wake up every morning and sit there for half an hour trying to decide which of your clothes would be best to wear in order to impress others at school, you would surely have to skip breakfast every morning. Report Post Like Reply 4 7 No, I believe school uniforms should not be banned because they create equality among students. Report Post Like Reply 2 5 Uniforms are a positive influence. I don't think uniforms should be banned. Mainly because many people have a limited wardrobe, so it is 85% guaranteed that you are going to wear the same outfit within a week/fortnight. This can cause people to judge others based on being "poor" because of the "lack of clothes". Also, lots of people have different tastes in clothes, so many people will be judged on what they wear, just on one day. Having a uniform creates a somewhat equality throughout the school, so clothing is not a problem. If it was banned, the problem i just explained will be another problem on top of all the others (bullying in general, racism, etc.) I would say that having an own clothes day once every few months would be okay. Going along with this idea, think of all the impoverished families out there who are spending all their money on giving their child a good education by sending them to private school, or a school that requires uniform. Do they really need their less fortunate children to be teased and bullies by the more fortunate children in school for their tattered or worn clothing that represents their parent's economic status? Uniforms help to make all the student body equal, especially in this day and age when even the youngest kids can be so spiteful and cold to their peers. Side: ABSOLEUTLY NOT!

the idea of school uniforms is suffocating a students ability to represent themselves in a unique and justifying way! if students cant rebel with their clothing(every student does at one point) they will rebel in other way, get into trouble, etc. if they have to wear uniforms they cannot show their style as to me a students style is part of their personality well... its part of their life.. a big part. hope this put a view point on life for people that think school uniforms should be enforced! If uniforms are forced upon students then why should the students have to pay. also if the school makes you wear uniforms then that makes people feel like they have to stand out more. this causes more drug use and increases the ammount of misbehavior in a school. Side: YES!YES! YES!
School uniforms are for losers!!! School uniform restricts students creativity and do not allow students to express their thoughts freely. It is also a waste of money to buy extra sets of attire and it makes us look like a communist country when everyone wears the same thing!!! Side: YES!YES! YES!
How is that proposing a strong argument? You may express "Creativity" in other ways. I know I do, I draw. Thoughts may be freely addressed to principles for "theme days" or "free dress" days. But otherwise, I see no point in not having uniform. Dress fashionably at your own time. Dress code is meant to identify student much easier. Side: ABSOLEUTLY NOT!

Essentially, the first reason why school uniforms should be banned is for the reason you’re your students freedom of expression is restricted by school uniforms. However I do agree to a vast majority that school uniforms make the school feel in sync as a community. Nevertheless school uniforms don’t give your students freedom of creativity, to wear what they want, to express themselves if their own way! Do you believe that students will create their own style with these uniforms by making them shorter and adding accessories? How will this help students be individuals? Secondly, Uniforms should be banned as it is a waste of money. After wearing that uniform for a year or so you can't wear it and you would have to throw it away. Why not just wear home clothes? You can wear it both at home and to school. Furthermore, some school uniforms are uncomfortable. Students may be affected by that. We should be able to wear normal complacent and spontaneous but suitable for school clothes. Thirdly, Uniforms should be banned as uniforms actually attract bullies! If you thought that requiring all students to wear uniforms can lessen the chances of bullying, you were wrong! In fact, it can actually increase the incidence of bullying, especially in school districts where violence rates are soaring. The following statistic is taken from a 1999 study conducted by experts from Texas Southern University it showed that bullying incidents increased by as much as 12%. In addition the following is a sentiment of a 2007 study published in the Southwest Journal of Criminal Justice. According to the research, assaults increased by as much as 14 incidences yearly. People think that these can stop the violence, but they actually don’t. Even when everybody’s wearing the same thing, a student’s distinct personality will still stand out. Side: YES!YES! YES!

OK. uniforms are discusting! but it doesnt help the cause when yall are cussing them out and calling people/uniforms gay. I PERSONALLY HATE UNIFORMS! i am ashamed at my relatives who like uniforms. now the most important stuff will be in caps. 1. UNIFORMS COST 40-50 DOLLARS AND NORMAL CLOTHES COST 5+ DOLLARS. 2.UNIFORMS ARE UGLY AND IF YOUR GONNA MAKE US WEAR SOMETHING `AT LEAST MAKE T LOOK BETTER. 3. ITS NOT OUR FAULT THAT WHEN THE CURRENT ADULTS WERE GROWING UP THAT PEOPLE FAUGHT OVER CLOTHES! THATS THE PAST AND THIS IS NOW! 4. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE TO SHOW OR SUPPORT THE FACT THAT UNIFORMS SAVE MONEY, STOP FIGHTS ECT. ECT. so its STUPID that we have to wear them any way. 5. UNIFORMS CAN BE TIGHT AND ITCHY! AND UNIFORMS THAT MAKE YOU TUCK IN YOUR SHIRT ARE TIGHTER! 6. WHEN CHUBBY OR FATISH KIDS TUCK IN THEIR SHIRTS IT SHOWS ALL THE LINES, BUMPS CURVES AND EVERYTHING! IM NOT BEING FUNNY EVEN THOUGH PEOPLE MIGHT LAUGH AT THAT. ITS SERIOUS AND UNCOMFORTABLE. 7. YOU CANT STOP BULLYING! UNIFORM OR NO UNIFORM! THERES ALWAYS SOMETHING! WITH UNIFORM THERES MUCH MORE! 8. I CURSE THE DAY THEY INVENTED UNIFORM 9. UNIFORMS CAUSE EMBARRASSMENT AND LACK OF CONFIDENCE.i personally know that when your in your normal clothes you look better but when your in uniform you look so ugly and people will make fun of your uglyness. 10. (last one) PRINCIPALS AND OTHER SCHOOLS AUTHORITIES ARE IN CHARGE OF UNIFORM. SO STUDENTS BACK TALK, TALK AND THINK BAD, AND PRETTY MUCH IGNORE AUTHORITIES BECAUSE OF UNIFORM. PEOPLE HATE YOU GUYS FOR IT! WE REBEL AGAINST SCHOOL OFFICIALS IN FRONT OF YOU AND BEHIND YOUR BACK. in conclusion WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE! uniform SUCKS! and if you need more opinions go to google and type good arguments against uniforms. AND otherthings similar. Side: YES!YES! YES!

Seriously? the reason schools are putting in school uniforms is because about 10% of the students(mainly girls) wear skimpy outfits that are banned in the dress code. To me, the uniforms are a terrible idea because the Administrators are basically punishing all of the students because a handful of students felt they should wear skimpy clothes that expose much of them. A lot of kids wear certain clothes to express themselves. Forcing students to wear uniforms is wrong and should be banned. Besides, who wants to wear khakis and polo shirts to school EVERY SINGLE DAY!?! I know I don't. To make matters worse, I know for a fact (straight from the students themselves) that many students are deciding upon dropping out of school because they don't want to wear uniforms. The Administrators of the schools should realize that students are planning to drop out of school rather than wear school uniforms. Side: YES!YES! YES!
ZZZZZ...I didnt even noe ther were ppl tht LIKE school uniforms.. I mean, WHUT THE HELL!!!!! They're sooo plain and ugly and colorless.. Schools are not supposed PRISONS!! YOU DONT NEED UNIFORMS TO READ A BOOK!!! BLEK! And THEY ARE SOOO EXPENSIVE, i mean, IT IS SOO...SOO...SOO WEIRDDDDDD Side: YES!YES! YES!

My opinion is school uniforms should be banned because people have the right to express their creativity and individuality. Uniforms are not comfortable with the weather because they are not thick enough. Another argument is that moving schools results in new uniforms, this means... MORE COST! They are also uncomfortable, for example: ties choke you, pants make you itch. Thank you for listening ^_^ Side: YES!YES! YES!
I think school uniforms should totally be banned. The reason being,is that when students wear these particular dress codes they are forced to wear something that they may not like.I think students should be able to express there individuality and what not by the types of clothes they wear. Side: YES!YES! YES!
I think uniforms should be banned because This guy said" I think uniforms should not be banned because all of the people that wear uniforms are sexy" . That is so gross . What if that was a grown man . Anyway I still think uniforms Should be banned . The uniforms can't exprese people . You can't even get the uniforms in any stores no more . I mean like YA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOO UNIFORMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Side: YES!YES! YES!

I believe pupils in schools should have the oppotunity to express their personality the way they dress, its a way of showing who they are. Also, you've got to consider the parents point of view, they might think the cost of uniform expensive, and shopping for it quite tiring. Side: YES!YES! YES!

Hello, I am a student who goes to Miami Killian Senior High School located in Miami-Dade County in Florida of the United States. Uniforms are okay to wear. But when a school, an educational facility forces students to wear certain clothing? I don't think that's right. I think it is very unfair. I find it very hypocritical that a teacher constantly complains about students not wearing uniforms when he/she does not wear uniforms at all. If you make students wear them, then make the teachers wear them to. Bottom line. Not a dress, a polo.
Making Students wear uniforms is like taking their freedom of expression. Because when some one wears a shirt they like, you cal learn from that person and what his/her interests are. For example, You see a person wearing an Avenged Sevenfold t-shirt. Okay, You can tell he/she is a fan of Avenged Sevenfold and that he/she likes rock. Or if you see someone wearing an Eminem t-shirt. You can tell he/she likes Eminem and he/she likes rap. But you really can't express your self much if you are wearing uniforms can you? Furthermore, I would like a legitimate reason for students having to wear uniforms. Are they for Professionalism? I disagree because regardless of uniforms or not the school grades will still be the same and there will still be fights in schools. Anclote High School located in Holiday, Florida does not have uniforms yet they are still they same as any other high school that wears or doesn't wear uniforms. I would suggest to make uniforms OPTIONAL for students. High School would be better if you let students wear what they want. But I do agree with a Dress Code, meaning Clean Cloths and such. It is not OK in ghettos, where gangs might use the uniforms to trick people and start a mass shooting, and in the suburbs and OK parts of the city, the slacker generation is still thriving, and ironing a kindergartener's pants every night is a burden! End conformity and extra housework! A gym uniform is OK because that is kept at school, and I think I'd rather be wearing gym shorts than jeans in a gymnasium. Side: YES!YES! YES!
I think there should be a uniform, but one that is comfortable, practical and up to date. I think it is sexist that boys often get to wear trousers like in everyday wear, but girls must wear hideous long skirts that are completely unlike common skirts outside of the schools. Ties are also out of date. What child goes out wearing a skirt and tie? Even a lot of offices have given up on the old tie. I think that schools are trying to exercise an authority that they should not have. Pupils still 'belong' to the parents, and school is necessary. Without pupils, the teachers would have no jobs and so they should respect that the pupils are there for them too. Side: YES!YES! YES!
For secondary school, definitely. My secondary school had blazers and ties, everyone loooks the same. Thankfully, now, I'm in 6th form and have no uniform set. The uniform was uncomfortable, especially in the summer- it can get up to 30'C! Pleated skirts are banned, and the uniform is fiercely regulated- 3 uniform faults in one term accounts to an after-school detention, the same punishment for smoking on school grounds. Crazy, huh? The extent and depth to the damage done to little children by school uniforms is non-researched and unknown. When a child is forced to wear school uniform why should they do anything anyone says... their free will has been taken away and a child releases what they worn for at least 12 years of their young lives is a mistake. You need to learn to not bully or discriminate without school uniform... we don't all at home in the same uniform wear the same clothes, you don't bully without it out, free will. If Jesus was a in charge... would he enforce school uniform rules... NO!!! Then follow that example. Imagine if you woke up to a world you were forced what to wear and already do. FREE WILL. Look at like this if a child spent £50 on school uniform which adds up to £600 in their life time, this could save 300 lives from malaria every single child! It annoys me when you say it is about bullying, if it was there would be no ties. Also It does not save money unless you waste money buying other clothes separate instead it saves £600 - Which is your own fault. There is one major reason why Governors force school uniform rules and this is the love of money!! £££ Governors of all twisted denotations not enforcing school uniform will probably end their beloved donations and judgmental students - which would rather have in their school and put off people coming to school - even though this could also cause rebellion. People then would leave the school, taking their beloved Government donations with them. Here is message to all uniforms: "It is better to tie your neck around a stone and jump into the sea than take away millions of children's lives in developing countries".
If you make them wear school uniform, don't tell them to do anything and it is punishing the innocent. School uniform stops a child from expressing themselves, makes us all like robots and is a sin. How can anyone say school uniform is ok and acceptable? It makes you rebel not do as they say. Side: YES!YES! YES!

Are you tired of having to wear the same thing everyday? Ever dream of getting to wear something different? A lot of students do. I believe schools are forcing this uniform rule too hard on us. Don’t you agree? We can’t wear our favourite t-shirts, or any bracelets because of this rule. I believe we should be able to wear whatever we’d like. I mean, this IS a free country right? We are STUDENTS, not prisoners. We learn in a school. A safe environment where we can learn about life, science, math, and other new things. One of the main reasons uniforms were made for us would be because of gangs. Actually, this rule WAS based on them. Children can still look gang-ish in uniforms anyway. They can sag their pants or wear large uniform tops. This proves that uniforms do not solve the gang problem. Gangs can still wear colored laces, or get a haircut with a gang symbol on it. This would start fights, or bullying at school. Most uniforms would not be weather appropriate. Various schools do not let us wear hoodies, beanies, hats, etc. This is bad. Especially on cold winter days. Children could get sick therefore, they would not be able to go to school just because of a stupid uniform rule. I don’t find this fair. An article I read called, “Reasons Why School Uniforms Should Be Banned”, says “ People think that these uniforms make us, “equal”. Do you wanna be equal? I’d rather be unique and get to show off my style. These uniforms are breaking the first amendment. “Freedom of Expression”. We should be able to express ourselves throughout our clothing. People and teachers could get to know us better by what we wear and how we express ourselves. Schools tell us to be creative and to express ourselves but still, they’re not letting us wear whatever we want. Would you like to know something CRAZY!? A Muslim girl was suspended from school in Oklahoma for wearing a headscarf. Yup, uniforms interfere with our religious beliefs. A lot of children or preteens in school may have to wear cultural or some type of traditional clothing. Uniforms do not let that happen. These problems can be fixed though. There is something called a “dress code”. In my old school, back in the suburbs, it was a set of rules that told students what they could and could not wear. For example, (no spaghetti straps, baggy pants, short shorts...) That could be a solution to all these situations. Also, why wear uniforms when you have clothes at home you can wear everyday? I think parents are spending too much money on these uniforms. My friend’s mom said, “When it was time to go back to school, I had to go shopping for a new school uniform. The material is really cheap and they are too much. I have to take most of the money in my purse just to buy at least two.” Coming from my own experience, my mom had to waste about $25 dollars on my uniform. I could’ve just wore the clothes I have in my closet! Those are my main reasons why I think that school uniforms should be banished. They are uncomfortable, they interfere with our beliefs, they are breaking the first amendment, and they are too pricey. We will fight until this dream comes true. One day we will all get to express ourselves as individuals...I will keep fighting for these rights. We need, Freedom Of Expression. Side: YES!YES! YES!
